sounds like incompetant umpiring really cost us in the end as well (according to 5rph)
Did 5rph mention how many times Norwood had an opportunity to win the game in the last? Norwood only have themselves to blame.

The umpiring wasn't great, but it definitely didn't lose us the game. We conceded 8 goals in the second quarter, that lost us the game. Full credit to the Eagles, Norwood had better fitness, which showed with about 14 inside 50's to 5 in the last quarter but just couldn't convert.
Very disappointing crowd of just over 4000. Maybe we'll see some Glenelg supporters come out of the woodwork after their massive win. By the way, Cowan will go for his indescretion, Gowans' report was a joke.

Don't ask me how the Eagles won, Norwood should have easily. Norwood comprehensively beat the Eagles in three quarters particularly the first and last. We were very, very lucky to come away with a win, it's so frustrating to see another poor start.

How can you blame the umpires ,Norwood should've burried the Eagles I was there we had nothing in the game plan at 1/4 time at one stage it was 9.1 to 1.1 .
What a comeback and Mackenzie was best afield for the Eagles he stopped so many attacks by norwood . If it wasnt him lifting the eagles it was the lady in the bradman stand yelling her support she was great ,bet she cant speak now

.

Not sure Pete but in both games scoring seemed hard at the bradman stand end .

I was starting to think the Eagles fans from last week may have been right about the Coach !!!
It was a very frustrating game for an eagles fan to watch ,they had more pace free players everywhere and we still didnt get the ball into the forward line correctly.
And the worst thing I predicted an Eagles win by 1 point in footysa footy tips

I stood in front of the scoreboard the whole game - and what do I see right at the start? Passador go to the back pocket. It's nt like he CAN'T play well there but hell, look what happened i nthe second when he stayed at that end and was up forward - took some great contested marks.
Umpiring wasn't great most of the day, both ways. At the end there seemed to be about 5 BALL chants from the Legs fans behind me in the space of 15 seconds. One or two might have been there but not all!
If someone kicks you the ball really low and you go to ground to attempt to mark it and someone gets on top of you right away, that ain't holding the ball.
The Legs forward line looked more damaging than ours, with some 202 ruckman forward (De Longhi heater?) kicked three goals on the run, one with a checkside no less!

The norwood Kid with the White hair killed us all day ,we still looked to slow and norwood missed kicking goals in the last term.
Can we querry the stretcher rule ?

Thanks for that Rohan.
To clarify for others, I didn't have the impression that umpiring was the sole contribution to defeat.
It's possible though that sometimes in a close game, a poor decision can swing a game.
However, conceding a large lead is obviously poor football.
Hopefull the lads can learn from that and improve the forward line conversion.

The funny thing was about the rph call that the norwood supporter on there hardly mentioned the umpires but 1 of the other callers, especially, was going ape droppings, probably fired up on the back of his beloved glenelg winning. Good that Smithy is on there to show these young fellas the ropes

Agreed, you don't lead by 6 or 7 goals at qtr time and lose by a couple of pts. I remember a couple years back when we played at Norwood 5 goals down at Qtr time and won by 10 points.

Yep. A bit like being in front by a few goals well into a Grand Final and getting rolled. It shouldn't happen

After watching the first half at the game and then the last qtr on the TV at home. The scoring end all day was the Scoreboard end by no means was it impossible to score at the Bradman Stand End.
You get up by what Norwood was up at qtr time to be down by half time it was always going to be tough for them to bring the game home.
Looked to be an open free flowing first half with turnovers killing both teams. The 2nd Half especially the last qtr was a real slog and a good show of good hard footy.
Gutsy effort by the Eagles would have been easy for them to drop there heads after the 1st qtr and get a flogging.
Just a side note how bad do the Eagles look in those Brown dress pants with the blue shirts and Jackets. Looks like something out of the archives.

They said on ABC News tonight that the Eags will be investigated by the SANFL for having McKenzie come back on to the ground near the end of the game. Surely the Eagles officials would know the rules.

So should the interchange steward who allowed him back on.
