KRIS MASSIE next time ???????????????????????????????????

NW played PA in the Elim final today
Quite astonishing how AFL players who have qualified for SANFL finals are missing AGAIN
Seems to happen to most teams in the SANFL
NW
THOMAS
CAMPBELL
JERICHO
injured

MASSIE
unavailable
MASSIE made the courageous decsion to be unavailable for selection
A very noble guesture which allowed a fringe NW player to get a guersey today
I have no problem with that

BUT NEXT TIME ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Every other time MASSIE has been dropped he has plays for NW[assume most times if not all?]
So MASSIE plays during the year but not finals
Is that any value to the NW football club ?

So if he gets dropped next year during the minor round should he MORALLY be picked for NW ?
Of course not isint there that stupid rule that says AFL players must play A grade footy for X amount of games if dropped ?

Its time the SANFL made a stance on the rules.
Its always convienient for the SANFL clubs to get AFL footballers fit in the Minor round
Buts its a different story SANFL finals time when they go ' missing in action'

AND
I will answer the question b4 its brought up
Yes I know AC + PP can do what they want with thier players, after all they are thier players.

let them have a reserves side, that would stop these AwFL players coming back during the year unsettling SANFL teams

Would that not just take more players out of the SANFL MT ?

the reserves could be in the SANFL

following on from MALS point its quite funny how these players want to play during the season but as soon as it comes to an end want to hit the pub and not supporting the local club that has assisted them throughout the year.

Depending on the influence of thier AFL club.

Perrie didn't play for North last year in the GF. Think Jars said "his mindset was wrong" or something like that. Personally, I can't understand anyone not wanting to play finals footy.

Nathan Lonie ? ....

I reckon MOST would want to play SANFL finals even carrying an injury
It just seems to be the AFL clubs that stop them perhaps ?

i'm sure massie renigged on playing about 5 or 6 years ago, if a afl listed player did the samething (with no pressure from his afl club) at glenelg i'd be happy to move him on

Pigs arse most would want to do that.

Playing SANFL is charity for most of these guys, don't think I would like to work on a weekend for next to nothing at the end of my working year. Let them be I reckon.

Massie is great for Norwood and would be a fantastic person to have with the young guys in the side. He has hardly played for Norwood this year and hasn't been a part of the campaign towards the end of the season, unlike Reilly. His reasons for not playing would not be selfish - I would think that he would feel guilty taking the place of another player who has been there all season. I think in this instance it would be amicable between Massie and the NFC and would be very surprised if there was any bad blood between the two parties because of this decision.

When Massie first came to Norwood, I doubted his commitment to the red and blue, but the longer he has been at the club, the better he has performed. These days, whenever he gets the chance, he serves the Norwood Football Club brilliantly. I would ask the question if he is eligible to play, he's only played 2 games for Norwood in 2008. What is the required number (I thought it was 3).

Im waiting for the day a club passes at the mini draft and refuses to take AFL players...

I dont blame Massie for not playing for Norwood. As he only had a few games with them he probably does not feel 'one of them'. The main reason would be why risk injury when it can jeopardise his AFL career that only has a year or two left in it. With the money these guys earn, and at his age it seems the correct decision.

I hope his AFL career is already over [at Adelaide anyway], so perhaps he should stay in Norwoods good books for 09.

Although Central may not have actually passed at the mini draft, they have quickly transferred players who they gained at the mini draft: Surjan; Paxman; Lockwood.

For a guy who came to Norwood mid-career from interstate, Massie is arguably the most committed AFL player to a SANFL club. It is not uncommon for him to turn up at training on his way home from Crows training, attend a game or pop down to the rooms during the season. Question whatever instructions he may have been issued but forget questioning his commitment to his SANFL club.

Yeah as far I can tell Massie has always done well by Norwood. He seems to be more committed to the club than a lot of other players that come over here. I think the magic number is 3 games and if true that he's only played 2 games this year then doesn't that rule him out for the finals anyway?

Another thing to factor in is some speculation that he's facing the chop at the Crows. I hope the Crows keep him on but if he were to play in the SANFL finals and do a knee then you'd expect the Crows would be certainties to delist him. As much as I'd love to see him out there for the Legs you can understand it (even if he's eligible).

It was good to see Jonathon Griffin at the game on Sunday supporting the boys after his recent surgery. A player who obviously has a place in his heart for the club and doesn't use it just to serve his own means.

I didn't spot Brent Reilly anywhere however..............
