This is the first finals meeting between the two clubs in the Under 19 competition. Up until 2004, the Eagles had a 29-3-1 record over Sturt, including a 28-1-1 streak from Round 16 1992 to Round 19 2004. Since then, it has been even, 5 all.

This year, the matches have been well contested:
Rd 6: Eagles 17.7 Sturt 15.11
Rd 12: Sturt 14.15 Eagles 13.14
Rd 18: Sturt 14.15 Eagles 11.6

This season has been the first time that Sturt have beaten Eagles twice in the 19s, and only the second time that Sturt have notched consecutive wins (other being Rd 17 1991 and Rd 7 1992). Since Round 11, the Eagles have a 9-2 record against all clubs, those two losses being the above matches.

I don't think anyone's claiming it yet, but it's got to give the league a gee up if the lower grades are carving it up. FWIW, it's looking like we'll do an Eagles in 2000.

It's certainly the most dominant that I can recall the SFC being across all grades.

FWIW I think sturt are an excellent chacne to knock off the Dogs in next weeks prelim....

Sturt looked like the more threatening team on the day, but it can always be a learning curve for the Eagles 19s to know what they will expect if they win next week. The scoreboard is self explanatory way on how the game panned out: 8.6 to 4.2 in the third, and it was a more even 12.7 to 11.6 in favour of the Eagles.

This proved to be a disaponting loss but I do expect the minor premiers to bounce back next week and move towards a rematch with Sturt in the GF.

Very disappointed with the 2nd half today, as well we should. We should now look towards next week at Adelaide and vent the disappointment of the game against Glenelg.

Sturt coming into this match, I knew would be tough to beat, that's why I hope the players know what's needed to win now.

Sturt kicked their highest Under 19s score three weeks ago against South, and the 2nd highest score by any Sturt grade ever.
Two weeks ago against Central, they kicked their highest score against them.
