Would you like to see the SANFL play a couple of finals under lights instead of double headers in the first two weeks?

Only the prelim IMHO, the crowd at Adelaide Oval on the Friday night before the AFL GF would be huge.

With Wedgie to a point on this one but perhaps a twilight game, can imagine a Prelim final at Adelaide Oval say starting at 5.30 on a SATURDAY night, be a huge crowd

Agree. This would enable bringing the Grand Final back to a Saturday arvo, it'd be brilliant.
Rest of the games during the day.

Obviously evening/night games would give me a lie-in

but I don't think the media or the fans should dictate when a game is played...especially finals. They should be played to suit the performance/fitness of the players. If playing straight after breakfast was deemed best for them (I know it wouldn't be but if....) then I'd be happy with that.
In the Olympics NBC insisted on and got (due to the money they'd paid for tv rights) the swimming finals rostered to take place in the mornings to suit their time zone and audience regardless of the fact that it is supposed to be the worst possible time of day for the swimmers.
Regards
JAS

Agreed, as a Saturday SANFL GF immediately eliminates the issue of our GF preceding a "working" Monday two years in seven (with the Labour Day Holiday on the first Monday in October) - that free Sunday then becomes the club family day for the Grand Finallists.
Perhaps with the Adelaide Oval big screen showing the AFL GF, a Saturday twighlight Prelim Final could be turned into a day outing for those so inclined. Might get a few more bods through the gate that would otherwise watch the AFL GF on TV and stay at home and relax the day after. Would obviously preclude people who wanted to be in Melbourne, which wouldn't necessarily be an issue with a Friday twighlight or evening Prelim.

Abso-bloody-lutely.
An added bonus is that the Grand Final could then be played on a Saturday and the PF winner would get an 8 day break.
None of the other finals should be at night. I like the double header format for the first 2 weeks of finals, and the Granny must ALWAYS be on an afternoon. Leaves plenty of time for celebration/consolation afterwards.

I like the idea of a night final, especially a sat night one starting at 8 pm. It might sound a bit radical, but it has people appeal and bums on seats is what makes a good game of footy
I personally would like to see the GF as a night game, but know that its not practical for many, many reasons, especially the aftermatch celebrations of who ever wins, back at their club and oval, so i would go for the next best and want the PF played at night and at Footy Park along with the GF, makes a lot of sense really and the fans would go there in full force, all the SANFL has to do is put more effort into the promotion of the finals and people will attend.
Take this weeks morning paper, now that there is no Adelaide team in the AFL finals, there has been good write ups for the finals, pictures and stories about players and their oponents, the radio stations have jumped on the bandwagon now they have not much else to talk about in football so they are getting in on the act.
About night games, I remember ringing KG and Hooksey , many moons ago and suggested that sat night football was the way to go as people would attend a sat night game, was told by KG that no one would go to a sat night game and 'It will never happen, mark my words", Hooksy thought it had some merit but couldnt possibly work, then got the big heave ho, like they do to anyone that dosent have the same opinion as they do.

i voted no but this is an option but it cant be done if the semi finals are on the sunday before it. Mind you no reason why the semi can't be saturday as the afl game is at inight anyway.
the vfl are playing their grand final on that night so it will be interesting how they go crowd wise.

i may have been daydreaming when i had channel 2 on yesterday - volume down but it looked like with the wrap from the wafl that south freo had a home final against swan districts in the elimination final and lost.

Looks like West Perth had home advantage against Swans this week.... and also lost.
Crowd only about 5500 for a preliminary final, interestingly enough.

Don't like the idea of a friday night prelim think plenty would stay away preferring to wait until the next day, played on a sat night would be a big draw card for the league at say 6-6.30 after the afl gf most football followers would love to see another game and under lights we would get plenty of neutral supporters rocking up imo.
