Jeremy Clayton, James Meiklejohn, Daniel Elstone, Matthew Lokan and Steven Summerton have signed new 2 year contracts with the Magpies, while Brad Murray, Joel Perry, Josh Thurgood and Daniel Batson have each signed 1 year contract extensions to see them at Alberton until the end of 2010. Great news on the eve of the biggest SANFL match for 10 years.

Things certainly looking on the up for the Maggies, I get the feeling they're pretty close to making a regular return to where we were used to seeing them.

Some terrific names in that group of re-signings...

No extension for Hargraves? Perhaps Port will wait to see how fat he is when he returns from the off-season...

I am a little suprised to see Daniel Batson on that list i thought he was a good chance to come out to Westies. He had signed for us before he was rookie listed by Carlton and last summer had tried to get out of his contract with Port and come to us but he has obviously changed his thoughts about Westies and/or Port.

The rest of them give Port a good nucleus to build a side around for a few years.

For what stupid reason would he want to head to Westies for?
To play for a wooden spoon!

Has been very good the last half of the year. Best form of his career.

I don't understand why so many clubs are signing players when they are about to play finals.

A great way to distract a player from his preparation I reckon
