This Week's Star Search nomination

I swear that I was going to say nothing about this award this week. Honest :)

At half-time, I was inclined to say that I had seen two possible nominations from the North v West game.

I thought that young Cohen Thiele from North had played an excellent game, just shading young Daniel Webb from West. Thiele was very good and looks a very promising type.

In a dysfunctional forward line, Daniel Webb rose above the rest. It wasn't just a commendable effort. It wasn't just a very good effort, but it was a best on ground for West effort.

Daniel played Centre Half Forward and, on a wet day, took 10 strong marks, for 14 possessions and West's best player.

I don't know who played well at the othet games, but I humbly suggest not many nominations this year have been their Club's best player in only their second game.

I hope he's considered.

Brodie Martin from Sturt was the nominee in Round 15 in his second league game and George Thring in Round 20 was playing his third game for the club.

Do the players actually get anything from this award nomination or is it recognition only (and a public notification to all AFL scouts)?

As I understand it they get nothing from the weekly prize but the overall winner gets a prize.
That's unless they play for West Adelaide, then they get immortalised in glory as being one of the best players of all time!

I'm sure Wedgie isn't trolling, so I'll keep this factual.

west have had 4 nominations this year and they have 4 of the 14 Draft Camp nominations.

We don't yet think any of them are the best players of all time, but they might be if they follow the path of many ex-West draftees.

Im not sure why you bring me into it, Im just of the opinion that all West players are the best of all time and Im not sure why the rest of the competition even rocks up to play them.
Its just my opinion, that's what this site is about mate, if you don't have any time for West players or have respect for any others opinions then so be it.

Slightly off topic you should have come said hello today, I was easy to find in the third quarter when I was the only person in the bloody rain getting drenched in front of the glassed off bar.

I did look for you several times, mate. I staked out the BBQ :( and looked in the Mound Bar several times, but alas, I didn't see you.

I couldn't look while the game was on, due to other duties, but I'm sorry I missed you. Never mind, I'm enjoying the evening's correspondence, as I'm sure we both are, and look forward to catching up with you soon :)

I wouldn't have been hard to find, the only bloke wearing a Cats premiership Tshirt and a green Raiders Cap! :D
