Not too long ago an absolute basket case and the most unsuccessful club this century and now in 2008 they are Minor Premiers.
That's an awesome effort and well done to all who helped make it happen.

Cheers Wedgeman, but save some of the well-wishes for when they've notched up 2 more wins :D

Of course it would have been stictched up this time of year, give or take a week or two, back in 1981...

I was about 4 weeks from being BORN !!!

Well done Bays, but as we all know, want mean much if they don't take advantage of it and go all the way...

Incidentally is the Foundation Cup still presented to the minor premier? If not, when did that stop?

As Psuedo implied it means 2/5ths of bugger all if we don't make the most of the opportunity. As Cornesy said in the rooms afterwards the real work starts now.

We spent three quarters today trying to gift the minor premiership back to Sturt. Luckily we decided to stop the charade of a woodenspooner at three quarter time and decided to play like a minor premier.

Gee we were ordinary today for three quarters, I think the xpectation played too much on the boys minds as we were over anxious to win that we forgot about the basics of what led to 15 wins prior to today.

Ah well its all good, some key players will get a crucial week off to get over their niggles, that is priceless at this time of the year.

Some memories of 1981 I shared with the LifeFM Listeners today;

Malcolm Fraser was Prime Minister, Dr David Tonkin South Australian Premier, Ronald Regan US President.
Cop Shop, Prisoner & Kingswood Country ruled the ratings, whilst Ansett and TAA flew the skys
You could buy your 20c budget with a $1 note
The SANFL was played Saturdays, the SAFA (Flinders Pk premiers) on Sunday
1981 wedged between the Moscow Olympics and Brisbane's Commonwealth Games.
Co-commentator John Nankivell was two years from Kindegarden,
I was in primary school and had just joined the Woodville Cheer Squad cheering on the Peckers.
For Glenelg, John Halbert was coach, Paul Weston captain, Peter Carey B&F and Steven Copping the leading goal scorer.
and 17 of this weeks 21 Glenelg league players were not even born

Congrats Bays on a huge achievement! Clearly you deserve your status as overwhelming favourites for the flag. It will be fantastic to have a relaxing week off to reflect on such a great year. Well done, time for celebrations methinks! I would wish you good luck, but, you know, I don't reckon you're going to need it. Great job.
