there is a rumour circulating around the traps & even on radio that jeff white (melbourne) has signed with an sanfl club to play (in 2009) if he doesn't get re-drafted, i haven't any information on which team but my uneducated money would be on north as they are crying out for a ruckman now o'hara is out of action, but does anyone know ?

would be the logical choice. But Sturt could be the smokey. Feast has not announced his future yet and who knows what Port are going to do with Deluca. If he is delisted is he keen to stick around or will he return to Victoria or picked up by another club?

I know that the suggestion of Fabs sticking around would upset some supporters but he is 200cm for christ's sake they don't grow on trees

Could this be the player Holden78 was talking about last week ?
He would be very handy at Oval Ave.

I understand your sentiments, going for elderly AFL hacks who are no longer good enough for the AFL rarely pays off these days, might be lucky to get 1 out of 10 work (Ben Hart did for us but look at how many haven't).
The smart recruiters get the players in their early 20s who are just not good enough for the AFL and will be long term prospects.

Yep that sounds right to me Wedgie the best guys are from 23 up .they are normally to old to get re drafted by the AFL.

Good chance it might be westies as well with Brown and Ferguson there already and we need a ruckman as well.

It's Centrals I reckon...

They are in DESPERATE need of a lead ruckman and I nominated his name as a definate recruit we needed to look at for next year...

Good to see Kris Grant logs on to the Centrals forum and in particular, reads my thread. I posted this back on the 28th of August...

BP on Centrals Forum wrote:Otherwise our last option is Sydney recruit Earl Shaw who played a few games earlier in the year and has played good footy in the 2's but just seeemed to struggle a bit at the next level up. Interesting times ahead in the rucking brigade for the last few games and of course the finals, very important whoever plays steps up and performs. Also highlights the fact that, along with a quality key defender, our main recruiting priority for season 2009 HAS to be a proven quality and experienced ruckman, say like recently retired Demon Jeff White.

Well done to Granty for taking my recruiting advice

Seriosuly though, every year, retired or delisted AFL players have stories thrown around about them coming to the SANFL but until we see an official media release saying they have signed with a one of our comp's 9 sides, it is all just rumor and inuendo. In saying that, I think Jeff White would look great in a Doggies jumper and we do have a good performance history, great facilities (for SANFL standard at least) and a pretty good history of recruiting quality players. Maybe he could bring Adam Yze to play for Centrals as well. Granty if you're reading this...

I assume you are talking about North MAL ???

Might be 3, might be 0 ???

Damon White might get traded or delisted by the Power...
Brett White might retire, there was some whisper about that...
Jeff White will be signing with Centrals like I said above...

Will be 2 x Whites at Centrals, Jeff of course and a young promising defender named Nick White...

   :D

This rumour was on 5AA last Sunday - Jeff White signed by North

They didn't say where they'd heard it

I struggle to see how he would have signed if he's still fishing around for another AFL gig

He could have signed subject to not being drafted by another AFL side, wouldn't be an unusual condition.

Exactly...

Let's not forget that Jeremy Clayton actually signed with Woodville West Torrens but was drafted into the AFL then came back to the SANFL and of course went to Port Magpies.

Any club that thinks they are a genuine chance of winning a flag in the next 2-3 years ought to look at White, but otherwise, it would be a poor decision for sides down the foot of the table to get him, given the fact it is not a long-term fix.

Depending on attitude White could be a very good pick up, even for lower sides, if they had a couple of young developing rucks that he could pass his experience onto his value could go well past his retirement.

I think a genuine tap ruckman is the exception to this rule...they dont grow on trees, isnt he only 30 anyway? potential to get 2-3 years out of him while developing a young one

Still has a couple of good years in him, Melbourne are only giving him the flick because they are heading down a youth policy path.

Freo should draft him for a laugh.
