Hooray for having friends in high places!!!

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/sa-footys-woman-of-the-year/2008/09/02/1220121235264.html

She has some credentials. Her dad and mum met at Tigers Disco at Glenelg Footy Club. Kate used to sit behind the goals with her colouring-in books. The Cornes boys ("the cool kids") sat nearby. When she was very young, she made a tape she wanted Graham Cornes to play to the team at half-time.

A sense of justice is often born of injustice and she still finds it difficult to accept that her parents didn't let her go to the 1985 and '86 grand finals. Her older brother was allowed to go. He took a giant hand to Footy Park and Kate can remember seeing it and him on TV.

She played footy in the local high school team. ("In the ruck, but really I wanted to be full-forward, where the glory is.")

She is now the No. 1 supporter at Glenelg, which is travelling pretty well this season. Steve Kernahan is the No. 1 ticket-holder ("I've got him in my sights.").

ROTFLMAO at her Mum and Dad meeting at the Bay Disco...

If only she were competent enough to do something of use.

Like carry out the duties of the Minister for Sport. Other than that, she's a really good Minister for Sport.

I agree so far that I can see is the only thing that the minister for Sport does is attend sporting events and bag the Poms then we lose

Also how many more bays fans are "products" of the Disco

And here I thought that Bayman was the Bays number 1 supporter.

That would be a good gesture by the club.

Surely the Panfers have a friend in higher places than Kate Ellis...

Disco, rubdown table whatever.
Maybe she's the much touted love child of the cheerleader.
Does she talk with a lisp?

You're right as always Smac, she hasn't got the towering intellect of Jackie Kelly that's for sure.

Great comeback. Obvious answer for those who have no valid defence.

Valid defence of what? Your opinion she's not 'competent'?

I don't think Jackie Kelly was 'competent' however I look forward to your stirring defence of Australian sporting performance under our favourite disgraced leafleteer.

Not sure of her relevance to this thread and I have had no dealing with her so cannot comment. Given I have spoken with Kate Ellis in her capacity as Minister for Sport as well as her capacity as Member for Adelaide I have some basis for my opinion other than programmed opinions.

Rather than rely on your facile one liners why didn't you say this at the start? At least it might have meant your opinion was afforded a little respect.

LMAO at the 'programmed opinions' crack.

I'd much rather go have a beer with Sticks than with Kate at a home game function.
