According to Norwood's "Members Update" email, the Norwood vs Glenelg game will now be played on Sunday due to the clash of the Crows vs Collingwood game scheduled for Saturday.

SANFL REVISES ROUND 23 SCHEDULE

GIVING FOOTBALL FANS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Footy fans will be given the chance to experience the best the SANFL and the AFL have to offer this weekend.

As an outcome of last weekend's AFL results, Adelaide will now meet Collingwood in an Elimination Final at AAMI Stadium this Saturday (September 6) at 2pm.

The SANFL Executive this morning decided to revise its League Round 23 match schedule so that fans eager to cheer on the Crows can also attend one of three matches on Sunday, two of which will determine the make-up of the finals.

All Saturday afternoon matches - Glenelg v Norwood (Challenge Recruitment Oval), West Adelaide v North Adelaide (Broadspectrum Oval) and Port v Eagles (Alberton Oval) - will now be played on Sunday at 2pm.

Central and Sturt will still hold its night match on Saturday at Hamra Homes Oval at 6.30pm.

SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker said the League wanted to give supporters every opportunity to catch the Round 23 action that will determine the final five.

"This round is pure do-or-die footy - it's every club for itself in the fight for the five finals places," he said.

"The SANFL is encouraging South Australians to support their League teams this weekend for one of the most exciting and unpredictable lead-ups to SANFL finals footy in recent years."

Sturt will be fighting to secure the top spot as it clashes with Central under lights at Hamra Homes Oval on Saturday night.

Meanwhile Glenelg must beat Norwood at Challenge Recruitment Oval for any chance of finishing ahead of Sturt and in doing so, securing the double chance.

Should Norwood beat the Tigers, they would secure fourth spot.

The Eagles and Magpies, separated by just 0.1 per cent and sitting fifth and sixth on the ladder respectively, will round off the weekend's action with a battle for an all-important finals berth.

Was it just a decision by the SANFL executive, or were they prompted to do so?

All Saturday afternoon matches - Glenelg v Norwood (Challenge Recruitment Oval), West Adelaide v North Adelaide (Broadspectrum Oval) and Port v Eagles (Alberton Oval) - will now be played on Sunday at 2pm.

Why bother switching North vs West (with all due respect to those clubs). Because the switch to Sunday is on Father's day, I doubt there will be many more going. Last year, Norwood vs South at Noarlunga wasn't switched and went up against a (Crows?) AFL final. What's the difference this year? I'm not sure what Norwood vs South attracted crowd wise in R23 last year, but the North vs West game could struggle to get 1,000 on either Saturday or Sunday.

And if not, they will come 5th barring a draw between Port and the Eagles. There is nothing about 4th spot to 'secure' in this situation.

For some weird reason RPH are covering the same game as the ABC (Port v Eagles) which goes against what's been happening for the rest of the seasons, mind you I can't blame them as the West v North game is hardly appealing, but JTC wont be happy.

Well said squawk. I'm pissed off with this change given the reasons outlined (and apologies to those SANFL / Crows fans which I'm not!!!) but with Fathers Day and plans in place and a better AFL finals game on Sunday it will mean a heap of annoying changes now to my weekend plans. I was looking forward to having a big "drink" on Saturday and recovering into Sunday before the working week starts but now it will be a fairly quiet Sunday at Richmond amongst the diehards, parents and friends crowd.
