Ken McGregor

It looks cut and dry that this will be the last season on the Crows list for Kenny. Has been in good form for most of the season with the Eags but still hasn't been given much of an opportunity at West Lakes. This attitude astounds me considering they were begging him to stay only 9 months ago. Will he be given another lifeline at another AFL club or will he be destined to stay in Eagles colours in 2009 and onwards. I'd be happy to see him given another chance but I love to see Kenny McG in the blue, green and gold all the same.

Knowing our luck with ex-AFL players (if he isn't kept on the Crows list) since Jamie Tape, he will probably get drafted; or some other SANFL club throws coin at him; or the Crows offer him a job there doing whatever - probably he'll get paid more to clean toilets, such is the SANFL salary cap; or an Amateur club will throw coin.

Or he could go on to be an Eagles premiership captain, like the third last ex-Crows (before Rhett & Skip) AFL player to come from the Eagles :D

But how long did we get Skipworth for after he became an ex-Crow?

Kenny McG is a very loyal man though. He loves playing in the blue, green and gold. If he's not picked up in the AFL I'm sure he would stay at Oval Ave.

Geeezzz wouldn't that be a pick up. Could you imagine Rhett, Kenny and Skippy all in the same eags side again. That would be a dream. :D :D :D

We had skip play for us for zero minutes.
That was not my point. It was that excludng Cicca, our most recent premiership captain, in your run of luck of ex AFL players was worth mentioning. The two players I mentioned were merely to support my "third" last number, and neither of them may play for the eagles again.

I see. But I thought Cica was playing for us next year?

Does McGregor still has another year left in his contract?

Not sure if he was offered a 1 or 2 year deal. But in the cut throat world that the AFL is these day does that mean anything in any case.

yes he is signed for next year, for him to be delisted they would have to pay him out and still have his salary in their 09 salary cap, chances are he will stay with AFC...

Unless they trade him for a low draft choice or something similar.

Brisbane are about to loose half a side they may be interested??

Cant see any AFL club trading a draft pick for Ken this year. Too much at stake with the draft as the Gold Coast are about to get their concessions. The draft is deep this year and even strong clubs will want youth because it will be harder to get for a while with GC and Western Sydney coming in.

You can give players away for draft picks the other team won't use anyway. Just like Geelong did last year with King & Gardiner to the Saints.

It's a way of the Crows off-loading him (if they want) but still looking after his interests to some extent.

Or there's the pre-season draft

As I understand under either scenario, the other team simply picks up the contract and problem solvered

Its a shame IMO, I reckon he's still got something to offer at AFL level

a trades is based on a team wanting him even if it is for pick 1000 you need another team to want him...

If I had any say in the matter, I'd be urging Carlton to have a chat to Kenny. We are in desperate need for a KPP and I think Kenny fits that bill in an AFL team, but is just not getting the opportunity for some reason or another.

The good part about Kenny (from a Carlton perspective) is that he's played the position required, and he'd go very cheaply.

I think Kenny is the consumate professional and will stick it out with the Eagles next season unless he is re-drafted. He is one of the greatest blokes going around and considering he played all his juniors and underage with the Eagles, I can def see him in an Eagles jumper for many years to come!
Sorry didnt realise he still has a year to run! Great!!
