What game will the SANFL play on Saturday to appease the ABC? It is scheduled for Norwood-Gays and as a Geelong supporter I say leave it as scheduled!

Unfortunately, Norwood will bomb badly in this one as well.

Which game would you go to Fester if theres a clash?
Dead rubber (for Norwood most likely) or a trip to the MCG for a final?

Norwood were insipid against the Eagles...but having said that, they are an enigma at times...the performance they put up against the Eagles is a stark contrast to the way they went about dismantling Sturt at Norwood Oval a month ago...

Bays ought not to take this one lightly...Legs can be a dangerous side.

If the Bays play as they did yesterday, with a ferocity and intensity at man and ball that we have shown for most of the season, I'd expect us to win this one.

I heard a rumour that this game was going to be changed to Sunday from Saturday.

Does anybody know if this is correct?

Eagles v Port, or North v West is still on Saturday ?

Maybe the North v West should stay on Saturday, and move the Port v Eagles game to Sunday too !

As per the media release (see below), the ABC are now committed to the Port vs. Eagles game.

Monday, September 1

SANFL REVISES ROUND 23 SCHEDULE

GIVING FOOTBALL FANS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Footy fans will be given the chance to experience the best the SANFL and the AFL have to offer this weekend.

As an outcome of last weekend’s AFL results, Adelaide will now meet Collingwood in an Elimination Final at AAMI Stadium this Saturday (September 6) at 2pm.

The SANFL Executive this morning decided to revise its League Round 23 match schedule so that fans eager to cheer on the Crows can also attend one of three matches on Sunday, two of which will determine the make-up of the finals.

All Saturday afternoon matches - Glenelg v Norwood (Challenge Recruitment Oval), West Adelaide v North Adelaide (Broadspectrum Oval) and Port v Eagles (Alberton Oval) – will now be played on Sunday at 2pm.

Central and Sturt will still hold its night match on Saturday at Hamra Homes Oval at 6.30pm.

SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker said the League wanted to give supporters every opportunity to catch the Round 23 action that will determine the final five.

“This round is pure do-or-die footy – it’s every club for itself in the fight for the five finals places,” he said.

“The SANFL is encouraging South Australians to support their League teams this weekend for one of the most exciting and unpredictable lead-ups to SANFL finals footy in recent years.”

Sturt will be fighting to secure the top spot as it clashes with Central under lights at Hamra Homes Oval on Saturday night.

Meanwhile Glenelg must beat Norwood at Challenge Recruitment Oval for any chance of finishing ahead of Sturt and in doing so, securing the double chance.

Should Norwood beat the Tigers, they would secure fourth spot.

The Eagles and Magpies, separated by just 0.1 per cent and sitting fifth and sixth on the ladder respectively, will round off the weekend’s action with a battle for an all-important finals berth.

The revised schedule is as follows:

LEAGUE MATCHES

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Central District v Sturt

Hamra Homes Oval, 6.30pm

Reserves – 3.35pm

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

West Adelaide v North Adelaide

Broadspectrum Oval, 2pm

Reserves – 11.15am

Port Adelaide v Eagles

Alberton Oval, 2pm

Reserves – 11.15am

Glenelg v Norwood

Challenge Recruitment Oval, 2pm

Reserves – 11.15am

UNDERAGE MATCHES

ALL HELD ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Under 17 Semi Finals

Glenelg v North Adelaide (1st Semi)

Coopers Stadium, 11.15am

Sturt v Port Adelaide (2nd Semi)

Woodville Oval, 10.30am

Under 19s

Eagles v Port Adelaide Magpies

Woodville Oval, 2pm

Norwood v Glenelg

Coopers Stadium, 2pm

Central District v Sturt

Hamra Homes Oval, 1pm

North Adelaide v West Adelaide

Prospect Oval, 2pm

The SANFL wishes to thank its television broadcast partner ABC and radio partners for their cooperation in this rescheduling.

The Port and Eagles match will be broadcast on ABC TV from 2pm, with crosses to the Glenelg v Norwood clash.

Radio broadcast times will be confirmed.

Norwood each and every day of the week! Thats why they invented radios! Bloody Saints! Wont be as much fun as it would of been to smash The Cows!!

Guess a trip to the MCG for the Grand Final will have to suffice!

Smash the Saints for me instead. I'm sick of the media over here in Victoria giving them the big hype up every year as soon as they win a couple of games half way through the season.
They seem to always be the Melbourne media's "Great White Hope". [Your mob in the AFL you see aren't quite Melbourne enough.]

I'll forgive you the "Cows" thing, but only because you have the good sense to also be a Norwood supporter, and thus have some redeeming qualities...

I was staggered yesterday to see Ross Lion's press conference backdrop show that the Age is a major sponsor of their club. That must be a challenge for the paper when it comes to being critical of the side's performances.

Someone remind Sturt Peter that the 70's and 80's are over now  . No relevance whatsoever. Soon he'll recall the 1940 prelim.
