I watched a bit of the game on TV. The Eagles played well to get back into the game.
Glenelg have lost a few games in the last month or so, what are the Bays supporters thinking. Is it training harder to get ready for the finals, have they lost a bit of form or are the other teams just playing better against them ?

The Bays have been looking average in the past few weeks with only 2 weeks left until finals time.

I'm glad the team didn't do what I did - leave about 15 minutes in the 2nd quarter. I'd had enough of our performance following a promising opening to that quarter. As well as the deplorable umipiring. I have for a long time thought ok about that facet of the SANFL, but that has changed. You may have even heard me through a mike on ABC in the 1st.

Anyway, the main reason the result went the way it did was through Glenelg missing a few easy shots in the last.

In comparison to the conditions in the previous game at Woodville Oval - it was a perfect day for footy.

Glenelg jumped out of the blocks early and it was looking worrying for the Eagles when they were down by 4 goals at quarter time. The Eagles had their chances, but could only manage 5 points for the quarter. Glenelg's forwards were looking dangerous and it was all a bit easy. Panozzo was racking up across half back unmarked.

The Eagles came out after quarter time much better and scored the first two goals, but Glenelg gained the ascendancy and as expected extended their lead to 5 goals by the start of time on in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles kicked 3 goals in 5 minutes to be in touch at the main break.

Treeby was again moved to full forward for the start of the 3rd and the Eagles came out breathing fire. As had been the case in the previous two games against Sturt and South, the Eagles were hard with their attack on the ball and there was a real spring in their step. Glenelg started looking a bit panicked, as teams generally do when they're under the pump. The Eagles hit the front half way through the quarter and kept a small lead at 3 quarter time.

Glenelg hit back again in the last, but the Eagles weren't to be denied. Led by the run of youngsters Hall and Broadbent, the Eagles had the legs to run out the game and secure a win that keeps them in the hunt for an 11th straight finals appearance.

I couldn't split Klun and McKenzie as best for the Eagles. Klun has really surprised since his return to the league side and McKenzie continues to create from the midfield. There were plenty of other solid contributors for the Eagles. A great and much needed win!

Agree. The umpiring standard in the SANFL is terrible. I think it has become softer than AFL this season, and certainly more inconsistent.

What I do like about the umpiring in comparison to the AFL is the holding the ball is let go and players that go for the ball are protected. What is disgraceful is the push in the back/high decisions. A player only has to drop his knees and he gets a free kick. This is so soft. So I'm not appearing biased - the decision to give Symmons a free kick in the last quarter on the wing was an example of how wrong the umpires have got it this season.

Posted somewhere in this site about 8 weeks ago that they were peaking way to early and got laughed at, time to do a weeks worth of hunting to find it, were lucky to win last week from what I have heard, only North's injuries may have saved the day as well

Then there were times that the play has been let go - push in the backs go unpenalised, hanging on goes unpenalised, then at the next contest a 50/50 free gets paid. How many times too, does a player duck their head and get rewarded for it?

I really really enjoyed that game on TV today and I thought Chris Kendall was fantastic in his debut as a TV commentator.

And to think about a couple of months ago a Glenelg supporter spurned me for saying that Glenelg would start a downhill slide saying I had no idea, looks like I was spot on and someone else has no idea. :D

Eagles were fantastic today, played like Woodville early on to give Glenelg a head start and completely outplayed the Bays for the rest of the day, well done Eagles/Warriors!

Although I still did watch it on TV after halftime, and it's now possible that McKenzie could have polled 12 votes in 4 games. I wouldn't hold my breath though, Jade Sheedy probably got BOG in the Sturt match for starters.

Speaking of Sturt, Adam Klun played his best match of the season, the younger players in the likes of Hall and Corbett look really promising, as well as someone who should never be questioned as to why he in the team - Gavin Colville. It was, shall I say, a vintage performance.

Well done to the Warriors! Don't think eagles can complain about the standard of umpiring. Yes. Mickan is running the boys into the ground at the moment ; short term pain for long term gain.

Why not? You had some rough decisions against too, I'm not saying it was all one way traffic. Just in the 1st half Glenelg got the better ride of it.

I believe that was the first time the Warriors jumper has beaten the Bays at Woodville.

Well firstly it was great to have a chat with Ferret even if he had to sit on the cold concrete  Not to forget Columbo doing his step aerobics and "young"CD looking for a scapegoat in a loss was my turn this week  And me thinking and talking about fishing west lakes instead of watching my eagles in the finals :(
Spell check left early I was predicting going home at 1/2 time after 5 easy goals missed by the Eagles in the first term. And according to the radio on the way home Eagles were 6 goals down !!!!
What happened ?
A combo of things Glenelg could well have totally stopped .But the eagles did today what they could not do earlier in the year they stopped that bays running game .Yes the Bays ran the ball forward but somehow the back line lead by kenny (fast on his feet ) Mac and Zac (I can take a big grab) heir not to forget fighting out of his weight division Redden .These three held the bays at bay
And the Eagles just kept trying and trying. Granted the bays looked Prettier did better handballs ran in neater lines .But the Eagles just kept trying and plugging away and pushing that ball forward .Young guys kept running they were smaller than the bays but they didn't stop .
Luke jarrads goal in the third term was a great example of that .

I am still coming to terms with that win .As the final siren sounded I was
shaking .And that is one miracle down two more miracles needed before this year is over .
And Guys the fat lady isn't singing just yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brother one white mungrel only had eyes for Glenelg today and if an Eagles player sneezed it was free to the bays .The others were shocking to both teams .
Funny how a trip happened to Corbet for the Eagles in front of the bays goal in front of the umpire and it was play on goal to the bays .
Yes the umpires favoured the Eagles .
And no I am not complaining but in the back etc should be paid to both teams not just Glenelg.
