Have just been reliably informed that David Oatey has been given the flick from Norwood, with Chris Ladhams appointed U18 coach/development manager.

I heard this "news" at Alberton 2 weeks ago.

Was that dependent upon the changes to the underage structure or was that happening regardless?

Get used to this under the new U/18 structure as ex AFL players use our clubs as mere stepping stones for their coaching careers.

Not saying poor performers should get rewarded but I'll hate to see our clubs used as coaching experimental grounds by ex-players as opposed to those that genuinally want to help kids develop into AFL/SANFL league footballers.

I'm happy to discuss with you R&B the career progression of a few AFL coaches (assistants) and how they have used the various U/18 competitions and positions around Australia. As I said if people are there for genuine reasons I don't have a problem. It is where your club or my club get used as a dot point in a CV, that is where I have concerns.

I wouldn't go that far, but the U18 comp has caused the rise in fuel prices.

I was at the club yesterday and it was business as usual for David, so I'm not sure what to make of this.

It is probably internal stuff.

So you're saying it's fact? All I've read so far suggests "rumour", I haven't actually heard anyone say it is official. I'm not trying to be smart, it's just that I haven't heard a thing about it, and I'm not sure David Oatey has either.

Who is Kelly, and how does he/she come into this?????
