O'Hara out for extended period

As reported "officially" in today's 'Tiser North ruckman Brett O'Hara faces an extended time on the sidelines after scans confirmed he will need a reconstruction re his knee injury from Sunday. So goodbye for him for most of 2009 by the looks of it. Tests are yet to confirm the extent of Andrew McIntyre's knee injury but lets hope it is better news for him!

The loss of those two for this week will be a massive blow to the chooks finals chances, especially losing McIntyre who is our tallest defender. The stocks in the ressies are very slim re talls to replace them. In the ruck, Matt Down might have to get a run this week unless they alternate Stewart and Dodman as they did Sunday after Budgie went off but that took away some of our marking strength up forward.

As for defenders it's anyone's guess as to who plays CHB??? Damon White would be a handy replacement but he is likely to remain at the Power and Schubert would have handy too but he is still a week or two away from resuming if he is "lucky" otherwise it's 2009 for him as well.

The failure by North to recruit a key defender and ruckman is really showing now.

we've been exposed in that area throughout the year- now we're even more vulnerable.

Rhett Biglands??

Would not be surprised if North had a serious play for him and opened up the cheque book.

Mind you he intimated on MMM this morning that he is looking at a punting career in the US.

Not sure the Roosters and Eagles can match that coin....

I think we are going to have a serious push at luring a former North ruckman home from Melbourne as the first priority for 2009.

Big blow for O'Hara and the NAFC ... With 2008 a year many Roosters fans would like to forget, it's a credit to them that they're still in the mix.

Port Pirie boy Mark Jamar by any chnace Drebin ??????

Losing Budgie is a big blow to the Roosters, it goes without saying. He was excellent against the Dogs a fortnight ago and although not know for his great skill by foot, his work ethic and endeavour is great and will be sorely missed. Gives Jordan Dodman a chance to show how good he can be maybe, or Matt Down another opportunity. He just seems too slight for me and with the bulk of Dodman and his jumping ability with his basketball background, he might be North's best opportunity if Jamar isn't delisted at seasons end ???

Maybe get Michael Burford back down from Pirie to play but from reports I heard and read when he came down earlier in the year, he wa a bit disappointing was he not ???

If Biglands were to play SANFL that will only be for one club and they wear blue, green & gold. He will not play for any other simple as that.

Not for the club that offers him the best offer ($$$)?

At the end of the day there aint too many ruckman that will be around and available to be recruited. Biglands would be a risk, I worry greatly about those coming back from knee injuries, yes some have been fine but alot are nothing like they were before. Noticed a young bloke running around in A6 Ams last week for Cl Light Gdns, was about 6'6 very mobile and kicked 11 on the trot, big difference I know but have to start somewhere

Westies got Lenny Clark from edwardstown when they were in div 2 i think. Whilst the difference between the amateurs and sanfl is rather large it is not insurmountable and 6'6 people don't grow on trees :( .

Good luck to Brett on a speedy recovery.

Unlike O'hara   Biglands is a very loyal man. If he were to play SANFL he will only play for the Eagles.
