As per Mr Rucci's snippet regarding 13 potential VFL recruits and salary cuts.

Collins has been facing upheaval since the day he started. His desire to recruit or depart has a very similar undertone to John Cahill and South. Whilst West will not want to cut Collins with a year to go, can they really afford to have him coaching when he is at odds with the club?

Collins will be around for three years at least

if they part company west will be down the gurglar for a long time (remember i've seen this at glenelg up until the last couple of years) i'd be very surprised if this happens

West couldnt afford to pay out the 6 figure contract Collins is on !!!!!!!!!

He's not 'at odds' with the Club.

Total beat-up.

Where are West going?
What is their game style/strategy?
What is their business plan (ie juniors v vfl recruits)?

Don't beat around the bush, these are the issues. What are the answers?

What a load of crap....Andrew Collins will be there next year. He has done the best with what he has player wise. Apart from one game he has had them playing an attacking style of game.
He has done an exceptional job and has laid a foundation down to build a very competitive team for next year.
Have a look at Wests line up every week...15 players under the age of 23.
Recruiting? As every club does, search far and wide for the best available.
Where are they going?...up, not just the team but the whole club in general.

When Collins does coach next year, will he be the 1st non-South Australian to coach an SANFL team for more than 1 season since Peter Rhode left Norwood end of 1999?

Although I can only think of Dale Lewis, Matthew Knights and Andy Collins as non-SA coaches since 1999.

What was West's financial position at the end of last year? That seems to be more the question.

There was always the perception that they had a fairly liquid position but someone told me recently that wasn't neccesarily the case.

It is a fact that the WAFC have made quite openly to thier members that the club is not in the financial shape that they would like it to be, hence why the club has undertaken some changes which included the contracting out of the kitchen of the club to the SANFL catering team who run Football Park. The menu has been modified and the club are working really hard to get the licensed club into a situation where it runs at a profit. To my knowledge this is the only area of financial concern at the club and it has been addressed, so maybe its like Chinese Whispers were one thing leads to another giving an impression that the club is struggling financially.

It has been raised several times that perhaps the licensed club and Poker machines would do better if located on a main road much like what the Eagles did with moving thiers over to Port rd at the old Hanrahans site. Its a good idea in theory but finding a site with the right rental and location is not quite that easy as real estate in those areas is at a premium.

West probably need to go down the pathway that Sturt and North have done and lease an additional venue if one becomes available to bring an additioanal revenue stream into the club - its also a good way to provide employment for players brought in from interstate!

Mail I heard Soj is that the additional venue is not too far away

I don't think West would get rid of Collins the current management has a plan and is sticking to that plan. Collins is in for the long haul and West Adelaide know that the gray skys will clear up and the sunlight will one day soon shine down on West Adelaide.

This is what started this thread and it's factually incorrect in just about every detail.

There hasn't been any upheaval, either when Collins started or at any time since. His style or methods aren't remotely comparable to John Cahill. West wouldn't have even thought of cutting him for a second. He's also contracted for 3 years, not 2 and he's not at odds with the Club, who are totally supportive.

He won't be an early departure.

Apart from that, DOC, your post is a pretty good and must be favourite for the most inaccurate piece of drivel on this forum for a fair while.

actually being technical i think you'll find clarkson was from the south east & when he was a young player he was choosing between glenelg & going to the vfl....he went to the vfl
