they tried this 10 years ago and failed. speaking to several people in Tasmania, too much parochialism attached to their respective three major leagues based around Hobart, Devenport and Launceston.
I see Glenorxhy one of the clubs in teh last TFL has rejected it already.

forgetting finance, sponsorships etc of the whole thing, i think tassie deserves to be in there before west sydney or the gold coast, but we know money is the language spoken

If the state cant come together for a better league, they don't really deserve a team in the AFL. whats going to happen when the team is based in the north instead of the south or vice versa. no problems like this in west sydney i would imagine.

With a $60,000 salary cap the amount of improvement will be significantly impaired. You'd have AFL players buying teams - if only they could get a return on their investment!

Clearly to have an AFL side in Tassie this change needs to occur, so lets hope that it goes through. I think that the reason clubs are holding out is simply for more money, lets hope they dont end up getting too greedy and putting stumbling blocks in the way of things as a result though.

And what has the NSWAFL done to develop a better league and therefore a second AFL side?
