Magpies v Redlegs versus Saints v Power

I realise that the C team are playing at Footy Park on Saturday, but surely it would have been wiser to have this potential 7,000+ attendance game up against them rather than in direct competition with the TV game from Docklands?

It is a Magpies home game after all...

Virtually no-one who goes to see the C team on Saturday will back up at Alberton on Sunday, but I can guarantee that on Sunday the loathsome teal element will still persist in watching the woeful disabled cousins on TV in a meaningless game, rather than turning out to support the Magpies in their most important game for the past 5 years.

Disappointing, but that's the reality...

Good to have you posting Fatal...

I too wish more more Port supporters would go and see Port win on Sunday in anticpation of a returns to finals action but only to have those hopes crushed by a marauding pack of Tigers in Rd 22!!

You know it...

Go Carlton !!

Actually I know of a few blokes doing both the AFL / SANFL games that day i.e Carlton/Crows then onto Central/Glenelg.

Wild horses couldn't keep me away Tassie...

Not because I love it here, but just because horses, wild or otherwise, have a generally limited understanding of the internet and football discussion forums like this, and therefore would be unlikely to have any great interest in preventing me from posting.

Not to mention the fact that the nearest wild horse would be well over 50kms from my living room...

I was going to ask whether the little town of Wild Horse Plains still exists in SA?!

The Crazy Horse ain't that far away from chez fatal... and I don't doubt that the pulling power * is any less than that of a wild horse.

Oh heck, has this thread gone off topic already?

Mate, I'm a teal watcher, but a Magpies born and bred and given the choice if I was in RADelaide, I'd be heading to the hallowed turf of Alberton.

Like most on this site, I'd rather watch a great tough game of SANFL live and listen to the Powaaaaa on the radio, than sit at home and watch the AFL on the box.

Agree too, this is the Pies most important game for a long, long time and I can;t bloody wait for it. Just hope my internet connection is up to speed and doesn't stop to buffer every 20 seconds while I'm listening in.

Once again poor programming by the SANFL. They gave a committment in 1997 that they would not programme Magpies games against Power games if at all possible - something has gone wrong this season.

Yes, it is unconscionable making Power/Magpie supporters have to make a choice - it's hard on the neuron!

That makes sense we used to drive through when I was a kid on our way to Moonta.

Why anyone would rather watch a lost cause in the sterile AFL over their SANFL club with a chance to make the finals is beyond me.

I'm a power supporter but not a port magpies supporter, and even I'd prefer to go watch them in the sanfl this week. I never believed in tanking until sunday. I have absolutely no interest in sitting down for three hours and knowing I won't see 100% from the players.

I still can't beleive that this game has been programed for the same time. Surely the attendence would be hhigher on a saturday, plus its another saints game that i don't get to watch because i would rather watch live footy.
