AFL selections will determine the winner of this game.

And that itself is a sad indictment....

Very true. I think probably Walker and Burgoyne will play. Everyone else would be a fair chance to be promoted.

Port have to win. If they lose, and North win as well, then it would be a miracle if they made the finals.

At this early stage, I'd expect Port to retain Burgoyne and possibly Johncock, Norwood to lose Thomas, Campbell won't return, not sure about Jericho (although don't think PAM fans would be too upset to see him lineup after last years display when he allowed Perkins to run off for 2 huge goals).

As a Legs fan, I have fears we could bring Doyle straight back in and he seems to struggle after a spell.

Port comfortably at this stage for mine, although I guess that could change as the week unfolds.

How important is this game? Looking at Permstances list of ins and outs I'm not feeling all that confident. :( Looking at the draw ahead for both clubs we might miss out on the five if we drop this one which would be a terrible waste of a season.

Reckon Cockshell goes to the Power this week too REB.

The AFL selections shouldn't be the be-all and end-all anyway, each SANFL club needs to give themselves the best possible chance of winning ANY game they play.

Even without those blokes I reckon we should be able to give a fair account of ourselves, provided we pick the right team ... Structure right, personnel right (not selecting players by "name" but on FORM) - This is often a big hurdle for us IMHO.

The Crows may consider Johncock for an interchange/half-forward spot this week if he has behaved himself.
He seemed to have done OK in the SANFL from the stats.

My mail said Johncock was great in the rooms and really showed his experience by getting involved with the rest of the team and was keen to get back to AFL duties. Burgoyne on the other hand was quite the opposite.I think the stats for both last week showed where they are at.

If Cockshell goes to the Power that might leave the 'Legs a bit small up forward and allow AhChee to go forward and create more attacking options.

Carn the Pies, big game this one.

Johncock was great last week and got better as the game went on. Burgoyne was crap and i would be happier if he went back to the afl if he is going to play like he does not care about the team.

About this weeks game it is obvious to everyone that this can make or break our finals hopes and it will be a huge contest with us having the chance to move into the top 5 and Norwood having the opportunity make it hard for us to do so. My prediction is Port by 3 goals

As long as 2 of either Vlatko, Walker and Cockshell play i think the legs will get up in a close one. Johncock will have to go up to the crows. As for Jericho he beat port by himself in the Red and Black a couple of times  so i think Ginever would be concerned if the switched on Jezza turns up to play.

Jericho, you've got to be kidding, he poses no threat what so ever.
I think Port will be favoured by the absentee of Trotter for Norwood but as far as Jericho goes playing, Port would be looking fwd to it & the hard ball gets coz i can guarantee you Jericho won't be anywhere near them.

You must have been there last year NM when for all Jericho's good work (5 goals IIRC) he allowed Perkins to run unaccompanied from HBF to kick 2 last quarter goals ... Not into bagging my own boys, but you're spot on about Jericho's lack of accountability and hard ball gets :( .

I remember that emotional evening at Coopers this year against the 'Pies when Norwood won well.

Redlegs for mine and to consolidate their Finals' place too. :)

I'd expect Burgoyne to return to the Power line-up...

Johncock most likely to stay at Port.

Irrespective of this, I'll tip Norwood by three goals.

On form it should be the other way around, Burgoyne to stay at Magpies & Johncock to be recalled by the Crows.
Port by 7pts

My understanding of both issues affecting Burgoyne and Johncock is that Burgoyne's suspension was only a one-week job, whereas Johncock will need to prove over the next period of time that he's ready to show the Crows leadership group and coaching staff that he has his preparation on and off the field down pat...wouldn't have thought one week in the SANFL is enough to show them this...

As a fan of Johnny Cock, I hope I'm wrong.

Actually, I'd disagree entirely with this. Burgoyne, bluntly, did not look interested for most of Saturday and didn't seem to be paying the competition a lot of respect a number of times. Johncock hit the ground running, did lots of the little things and was very impressive running through the lines. Johncock to go back to Adelaide, and Burgoyne to stay.
