It's official - The Eagles season is now officially dead. With only 6 games and a bye remaining in our season our final 5 chances are now dead in the water. With a 2 game gap now between North and us and tough games to come against Sturt and Glenelg I just can't see how we can get enough wins on the board to make the top 5. It's now time to start plannng towards 2009 and beyond - time to blood some juniors the future of our club and most importantly stop accepting mediocrity.

What are your thoughts ???

Yes its 98 revisited .
Time to blood more juniors .And start signing some new recruits from interstate that are worth the money we pay them . Perhaps we need to do what we did that brought Lindsey,Passador Inkster etc to the club.
I hope the new coach will last as long as Ron and win more than one flag !!

Its a dutch word, means metal, steel or element or something along those lines by memory.

We need a street sweeper to clean out all the crap at the eagles starting from the board down . The board helped put us in this situation with crap recruits over the years , now fullasaboot makes crap selections its time to go . Also we let players hang on to long ie colville 4years frewen 2years hall 3years they should have done the right thing and went years before they did .

Well that has been missing from many of the teams performances this year .So perhaps they could do with some

Who is the Club looking at as a replacement coach ?

And Pyeman well i read your other post a coach with finals experiance is a good thing .
Jeffries seems to do a lot of work ron should be doing off field like at pressies after the game. Perhaps no I am not going to write what i am thinking

No complaints from me Thiele. Just stating facts. I am upset however at how my club seems happy to accept mediocrity. Maybe your happy accepting those sorts of performances down at richmond it's unacceptable in my books and shouldn't be happening at Oval Ave.

It is important to realise that in retrospect the Eagles have finished in the finals for a number of years in a row now and have boxed above their weight to keep it going for so long. Its a pity that the recruiting hasnt worked out so well, knowing some of the issues personally that went on at South and why players were removed from the club I was surprised at how keen the club were to go after two of these players and I think that cost them in the longer term, yet then again who knows what could have been in any event.

My 2c worth is that the club should show a step of faith in Ron Fuller at this time and extend his contract accordingly to stop some of the rumours that are going around, alternatively if they are not prepared to extend the contract then maybe they should let him go if there is not a 100% commitment on the table to him in the plans for the next seasons.

The other issue that the Eagles need to give some consideration to is membership and boosting that figure by playing a country match in their zone and doing more to connect with their recruiting base in order to boost the senior side going forward into the upcomming seasons.
