Not necessarily the case. North was very very lucky to make it to the GF last year. More good luck than good management that's for sure. North was not the second best side in 2007.

All 3 sides you named were better. North just got them at the right time. 50 points down to Sturt at half time in round 23 it looked like we'd be playing your mob in the elimination final the week after. Feast getting hurt let us back in and somehow we snuck into the top 3. Played above ourselves and made a GF where we got smashed as we should have. Similarly Central was not the second best side in 2006 but they were good enough to bully their way to a GF spot nonetheless. Difference between them and us is they recognised where they were at and fixed it. North haven't.
