RD 13 - TWO GAMES NOT ON RADIO

Hi everyone,

Big day tomorrow, 4 games at the same time

2 on radio
- Eagles v Central at Woodville on RPH
- Port v North at Alberton on LIFE FM

1 on TV not radio - Glenelg v Sturt @ Glenelg

1 non broadcast - Norwood v West @ Norwood

For all the Tiger, Double Blue, Redleg & Bloods supporters who cant get to the game LifeFM is going to try to give as many updates from Glenelg & Norwood as possible.

We will have live crosses from both Glenelg & Norwood pre-game and at the end of each quarter.

We will also have live crosses from Woodville, pre-game, half time and after the match.

All going to plan our wireless internet link to the SANFL scoreboard will allow for rapid and regular score updates during the quarter as well.

We go to air at Alberton from 1.45pm and the web site is back up and running at http://www.life.on.net

Regards
Phil Herden

Thanks Phillie :D

Given the past performances of the SANFL scoreboard hopefully arranged for someone at Coopers to email me additional scores between the 'around the grounds' updates...technology permitting

I'll be posting them on the Legs forum and on here somewhere for the Leggies and Bloods fans and anyone else that wants to make use of them.

Regards
JAS

Thats what we like to see PhilH, or should I say hear, local football is what is needed on radio on Saturday afternoons when you cant get to your favourite match. The matches I have listened to while at the footy have been right to the point and just as good or if not better than we get on the other aafl station, if there is not a clash of programming, the call is precise and not full of innane nonsense and screaming into the microphone, that they think we like, my only complaint is that we dont get enough of SANFL content, I really dont care to much for AFL stuff, compared to SANFL footy, its pretty plastic.

Thanks Jas, good to have another backup.

If the site goes down I will probably go off air, ring our around the Ground Reporters at Glenelg & Norwood and then give an update.

That said, I have had a chat the the SANFL new web site manager today re some of the issues we have had on game day.

He has already brought in some changes during the week that will hopefully make a difference.

Glad to be a part of the team to help bring radio coverage of our great competition to all our listeners out there...

I'll be doing the "Around The Grounds" coverage from down at Woodville so be sure to tune into LifeFM, 107.9FM to get your updates on the Eagles v Doggies clash from before the game, at half time and after the final siren.

GO U DOGGIES...

Big Phil...

Nice one Phil

Port v North has always been my favourite SANFL match, from way back in the late 60's early 70's, so I'm very happy it's on Life FM.

Looking for ward to another great gameday call. Take it John Nankerville will be with you tomorrow.

Yeah I know, but that's the opposition Dutchy :? :? :?

I'm not going to come on here to promote the station I'm helping out then mention that the game is being called live by the opposition mate, come on now !!?? Plus, I'm doing the right thing and giving a bit of a plug to my "new employer" !!??

The other thing as well Dutchy, is that some people don't have radios etc that get AM coverage and only tune into FM stations, like on their mobile phones, hence the plug for 107.9FM

Big Phil... :D

Thanks bayman...

Seriously though, you make a good point. I made sure not to be bias last week when I made my radio debut covering the Dogs v Tigers clash. If anyone here heard me, I thought I tried my best to report the game from a "neutral" perspective. To be honest mate, the way that the Doggies played, it made it much easier for it not to be a "Centrals orientated" report, and in actual fact, my parents who tuned in, told me that I was very positive towards the Bays performance. The way I spoke of my side's below par performance was by saying things like "If you are a Doggies supporter, you will be dissapointed by the way they have performed today, but in saying that they are clearly being beaten by a better side on the day".

I really hope that I do have a better performance from the Dogs to report on today, but rest assured, like last week, I will give credit where credit is due if the Eagles put up a good performance. I'm really looking forward to this game this afternoon, but also looking forward to tuning in to hear how the other games are going as there are a few big clashes this round. I think the Port v North (LifeFM's game) will be a beauty as they have been in the past, while of course, game of the round is down at Glenelg with the Tigers and Double Blues fighting for top spot. I will be tuning in for regular updates of this blockbuster from Challenge Recruitment Oval. Hopefully, it looks like we are in for a nice day weather wise today and with no AFL games on in Adelaide this weekend, lets hope we can come close to 20,000 fans across the 4 games.

GO U DOGGIES & SANFL FOOTY...

Big Phil...

...and those of us that can only get our footy via the internet rely on both stations in EQUAL measure. There is no 'opposition'...they both try to ensure that as many of us as possible get game coverage each week so you kiddies please take your pi**ing contest somewhere else

As you will note at the top of the thread I mentioned that RPH was doing the Woodville game.

As far as I see it its not about oppossing coverage its about making sure we given the listeners what they are looking for.

i think the SANFL web guy might have to find a new job cos couldnt even get on the site today not good enough for the so called 2nd best comp in the country.

Hate to say this but even if you had got on there you wouldn't have discovered much. The score boards for all the games were blank :(

Exactly Phil. Like JAS said, both RPH and Life do a great job in getting SANFL out to the listeners and O/S , I/S fans like us are very grateful to both stations.

North are on Life I listen to Life, North are on RPH, I listen to RPH, and thanks to both stations I think I have caught every game bar one this year.

Keep up the good work and good luck with the telethon. I'll log on and make a donation later this am. worth every pent as far as I'm concerned

...and another thing....

I like the new look web site...well done LifeFM...even got schedule now and a SANFL page :D

...and I agree with JTC...I'll listen to whichever covers my team in the first place...if we have no broadcast then it's whichever I'm asked to listen to if helping with scores...after that I try not to listen as I know the server capacity can be limited and I would hate to stop a club's supporter from hearing their own game so I'll take 5aa and the AwFuL game.

JAS

Probably gives some food for thought while we still only have two regular radio broadcasters to have at the most three Saturday Afternoon matches.

Blame the clubs and the SANFL, they move games when its not required and don't move games when it is required.
I swear most people in charge are either trying to get less people involved in our great comp or are completely retarded.
Give me the reigns and I'll have 50k more attending next year (easily), no doubt. Its not rocket science!
