TONNE TWICE IN 2 YEARS?

Postby CUTTERMAN » Sun Jun 22, 2008 10:47 am

Brant Chambers is well on track for another 100 this year, 56 from 11 games at the moment, averaging over 5 per game. When was the last time a player kicked 100 two years running?

S Nichols for Woodville in 86 and 87 I think.
(Big Grenville did it in 83 and 84 too)

Thought Hodges might've done it also. Just tried to search how many Chambo got by the end of R23 but couldn't find anything, he had 100 by R22 against the Bays, how many did he kick against North at AO.

Well done, Chambo!

After a slow start by his elite standards he has now reached peak form.

He only needs 11 at Brighton Rd., to acquire 500 Goals.

He only needs to top the 100 nine more times to equal Ken Farmer :)

Seriously, to top 100 twice would be a wonderful effort.

Adam Richardson was good in a poor side. Although i would say that Brant is probably ahead now just.

Dietrich was the last to kick 100 goals two seasons in a row (1983 and 1984), but in both years he did not lead the goalkicking!
When Chambers does reach 500 goals, he will become just the 21st player to do so, and the last player to reach that was Darren Smith.

How many games did Smith take to achieve this and is his goals/game the lowest of the twenty?

He kicked 505 goals, I don't know when he got to 500, but he played 343 matches. I'd imagine that the 505 goals doesn't include night series goals, but the games tally does include those.

To be printed with the record of his results in every match.

Then two weeks later, it will be revealed that Sturt inappropriately  printed the hats with the 2007 record by mistake, so a whole new batch will be sent out to the original buyers at no extra cost

I only had records that he kicked 100+ in 1986 and 1988, but the Media Guide says he kicked 108 in 1987.

I'm back to 1934 now in compiling leading/century goalkickers, and no-one will ever touch Farmer, no matter what record he set. And that's being Mr. Obvious, but his best season for anyone who doesn't know what a typical Farmer season looked like was in 1936:

Rd Score
1 1.2
2 5.5
3 4.3
4 6.8
5 10*
6 9.3
7 7.6
8 11.5
9 10.4
10 6.1
11 6.5
12 7.4
13 8.2
14 8.8
15 9*
16 5.1
17 15.3
SF 4.3
PF 3.7
Total: 134.70

* Behinds tally not kept

So that's an average of 7.05 goals per match, or 10.7 scoring shots per match!
