Sturt flag favourites for this year

Given that the only other win Sturt has had at Woodville in the past 20 years was in 2002, I think that Sturt has the rights to be the favourite for the flag this year. The only other year Sturt has made the GF in the past 25 years, they lost at Woodville. Discuss.

One of three favourites at this stage. I think Glenelg and Central are more likely to be contesting the GF.

All equal favorites.
Glenelg & Sturt because of form & Central because of pedigree.

lets not jump the gun, sturt beat crap today whilst we beat quality, next week will be a corker, and given sturts recent record against us we will start favourites

It's a great coincidence but it doesn't mean anything yet. We go into next week carrying alot of injuries which is a little unfortunate as it shapes up to be an absolute screamer of a game, I'm expecting the crowd to push 8000-9000. Glenelg is probably still flag favourites...just, beating Centrals at Lizzy is up there and what is it, 9 on the trott? That's form.

What about the fact that Glenelg won at the Ponderosa for the first time since 1992?

I didn't say how far ahead Sturt should be in the favourites stakes, but Glenelg would be 5c behind on odds. :)

Next week's game will have a big say on who's the favs, at this stage I'd still just have Centrals at no 1, Glenelg at no 2 and Sturt at no 3 but its bloody close between them all and its only Central's finals experience that has them no 1.

In my book:

2.95 Sturt
3.00 Glenelg
3.05 Central
100.00 Anyone else

Also lets wait to see the extent of the injuries to Feast, Nelson and Gregory(one of our best defenders last Year). Great win today but at what cost.

I think the Double Blues would be favourites with the Doggies a close second. The Bays are definitely the big improvers this year, and I am quietly confident they can go all the way.

Long way to go yet. Looking mighty forward to the Bays game - bad time to lose Feast and probably Nelson though. Nelson getting injured turned our season around for the worse late last year IMO.

Fabs played so well today a demotion to the Puffs is not inconceivable - if so we would be in a whole lot of strife.

I think right at this moment, the premiership favouritism would be:
1 Glenelg
2 Sturt
3 Central

....... but things can change as the season progresses :)

First time ever

Sturt FC won all 4 grades today against us.

I would think confidence fairly high at Unley at the moment!

I like Glenelg & always have from round one, they proved that today at Elizabeth.
Sturt are a side that can go missing but when they turn it on they turn it on.
Centrals are the experienced side in the comp & at the end of the day that counts for plenty, they arn't as superior as they have been but are sure to be sniffing around late Sept.

You liked them when they lost to South? :?

PS Agreed, I love the style of footy the Bays play, it'd be great for the comp if they went the whole way, only thing that would be annoying would be that they did in 2 or 3 years what North couldn't do in 4 or 5 years but we had our chance in 2006 IMHO and copped crucial injuries at the wrong time.

Left my message too late, I would have thought that the 19s might have been a chance, but injuries and AFL laboratory has put paid to even them winning.

Firstly, I think we are seeing the end of an era ...... for 2008 at least  I put both Sturt and the Bays ahead of them.

Secondly, what more do the Bays have to do to be favourites? Neither Sturt or the Doggies have been able to beat them this year.
