Errrr...cos there wasn't one :?

Looks like the Tiser has been busy...you got a review too :D

Unlucky South but looking at the score I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of considering the clubs upheaval over the last couple of weeks and that you were playing the Doggies.

Here is the official review!

South drove up to Elizabeth, got a thrashing and drove home again.

Pretty much sums it up!

I can understand the rest of the South supporters are still driving home so can't review the game yet. And I can understand Big Phil is still typing away and is only part way through the 2nd quarter of his match review, but surely some other people on here went to the game and can give us an insight!?

Bit harsh mate.

Not that I'm accepting of a loss, but the guys worked hard and threw their bodies in today. A lot of spirit shown all day and they played a pretty good brand of footy.

Rolfe was excellent, Redigolo showed a bit, Boyd, Handby, Warren (early), Thewlis and Parry were probably our best.

Had an interesting day mingling with the locals. Smug and ignorant are words that come to mind.

Were there noticeable differences in the the game plan, team placings etc. compared to when Jack was coach?

Yep , South got close and Sampson still has the job.

The headline that Warren Partland has used isn't exactly accurate, I think. I did a quick interview with Sampson after the game for our site and the words he used to me were, "Very unhappy with the loss but happy with the endeavour." Bit of difference to "New coach enjoys loss." While I'm sure that he enjoyed taking the reins for the first time the headline is a little deceiving and carries a second meaning which, I feel, is unfair on Sampson.

I thought that the difference between the two sides, discounting the off-field upheaval at SAFC lately, was that the Bulldogs are used to pressure football whereas South, by far the younger and more inexperienced side, aren't. When the Bulldogs came at them in the second half the Panthers started to miss targets with their disposal and be brushed aside by shepherds in support of the Bulldogs' ballcarriers. In the first half Warren led his man a merry dance and remained dangerous for most of the game (probably dropping out a bit in the third term) while debutantes Redigolo (three goals) and Ash Baxter (with only limited minutes) contributed well. Second-gamer Rolfe also held his wing, his goal at the southern end after outrunning Paul Thomas (taking two bounces) was fantastic to see from such a young player.

The decisive move for Central came in the third quarter when they started to win the clearances from the centre with more regularity (a draw in the first half probably) and then around the ground, allowing them to hit leading targets upfield under less pressure than South were disposing of the ball. For the Bulldogs I thought that Thomas was by far their best player, winning many possessions and leading from the front, especially when South hit them hard in the first half, Elijah Ware with four goals was their most damaging forward and a livewire around the packs inside 50m, with good support from McCabe and Dutschke (although Central fans will be able to provide better insight to their team's performance).

There was, this time we gave Warren more space up forward, we worked on support from the centre bounces, use the corridor more, tackle tight and hard, have a care factor with the footy, we also had 4 young kids up from the reserves, 2 first gamers and 2 who have only played a few games between them, who were prepared to bust their guts, make a few mistakes and learn from them, get encouragement from the more experienced players around them. Sampson will make a good coach, dont expect to see instant miricals, however expect to see a more unified team, a more competitive approach each week, and a strength we have not seen around the club for some time.

A side always bonces abck after a coach has left. Lets relax a bit before we start deciding who can or can't coach. You certainly won't no anything from that game.

South have Woodville next week, a side that also languish outside of the five. I think that the loser of that game can officially write the season off and start looking towards who they might try and recruit for next year!

i thought south were brave & showed committment throughout the first half & while that committment continued in the 2nd half i thought central 'lifted a gear' (in the 3rd term) & were in 'cruise control' during the last quarter

south = tried hard all day but were outclassed, but not smashed
central = did enough to win but still looked (as per usual at this time of the year) a bit scrappy

i thought 'noodles' played his best game for a long time & i wonder how many goals warren would kick in a top side

highlight of the day was gowans' goal (the ball beat 2 players by bouncing sideways through the goals)

Hypothetically, if South ends up merging, like you feel as if it's the only way out for South, what club do you think will be referenced more like that? South or the other club?

onya, we are netiher smug - unlike another teams fans who were using words like "unbeatable" and "certanties" after round 3. As for ignorant - mate i suggest you go out and buy a mirror.
reliable sources say that you are sturt1, that being the case and remembering the way you just vanished last year, your points of view and digs have no credence

Considering the Crows were on the telly, the lack of opposition supporters (not a criticism, more a case of distance I suggest), and a fairly cold day in June, the crowd numbers seemed quite reasonable, 2750.
