Fine weather, Bays going great guns, arch rivals, no Crows or Power on that day, no TV coverage, it's not without possibility. I said that 10,000 was possible, but probably too optimistic there. But I reakon if there is some fine weather and looking at this table:
Glenelg Queens Birthday Matches
Year Opponent Crowd
2003 vs Eagles 4215
2004 vs Central 3248
2005 vs West 3881
2006 vs Norwood 4395
2007 vs North 4067
I can't see any reason why at the very least 5,000 would not be reached.

i would have thought the prospect of beating port would entice at least 6,000 to come down but with the weather forecast as it is it'll be more like 3,000
if you wanted to get a decent crowd both monday games should have been transferred to the adelaide oval & had a double header & if ever the league decided to do this promote it & make it a $5.00 entrance fee which would/could entice others to go

When a "Shower or two" is forecast at this stage, it usually turns out to be nothing or a sprinkle. The double header idea for two matches such as this would be great.

I know I would go to that Double Header if it was played at Adelaide Oval on Monday, even though I'm a Centrals fan...
Plus, I'm playing golf at North Adelaide Monday morning so I would just walk over the road to the footy after I've played my round of golf...

I reckon with weather permitting you may get 4500 max, hoping for the same at Unley.

I wouldn't want a double header for this game. The Queens birthday game is one the Glenelg FC has worked very hard at promoting within its zone to maximise attendances at home. Not saying it is like ANZAC day but is a day which our club has earmarked as one where with a lot of effort it can maximise $$$$ with a half decent crowd.
Would hate to see it diminished by being transferred to Adelaide Oval.
Funny how Sturt have jumped on the bandwagon this year by asking for an public holiday game?

My assumption so I could be wrong (I often am

) so yep they might have just been given it but given both North and Sturt are coming off at least a 16 day break the break between games isn't an issue. However Stuey, might have seen the "relative" success of our Queens B'day game and thought yep that would be good for the Sturt FC (can't really blame him or Sturt if they are trying to get more $$$ for their club).

Yeah certainly don't blame him if he has requested it.
Lets say that both these games are very successful. Why then can't then these be a traditional game every year as in Melbourne V Collingwood. I reckon in particular the Glenelg V Port game as I feel they are bigger rivals.

Double header at the Bay with Norwood catering would be fine with me.

Agree TM, credit should go to Glenelg for what they have done here and get first say each year if they still want a game. Have been to probably 3 of them and they are good days.
Reckon about 5000 at both games.

If Port were in the top 5 with 6-7 wins, yes i'd expect 6-7000.
But 2nd to bottom with only 2 wins, i'd be thinking more like 4000, if your lucky!

Are you calling Port supporters fickle, NM?

No smac, i don't think its gonna be much of a game to be honest with you. Glenelg are the form side of the comp & should win EASY.

Not quite Tassie, in Round 10, 1995, 8924 people went to Alberton to see Port vs Glenelg.
Also, over 6000 people haven't been to a Glenelg minor round games since round 9 1996 (at Glenelg vs Port: 6636)
