I am stunned and shocked that the winner of the Medal was from Victoria .....

The tables have turned. For so long did Victoria in State matches prior to the State of Origin concept have most of the best players in the country; now we have a lot of them (outside of the AFL). Don't forget though, the VFL side today had quite a few players who beat WA by 119 points last year.

But onto today, and SA had so many contributors. From the bounces Dabrowski and Parry controlled the rucks, Backwell, Clayton, Treeby and Crane did likewise in the midfield, and the forward line of Chambers, Alleway and Perrie also presented well all day. Our defenders were on top in the 2nd, when the game was really won, although the nature of the game made it a bit tougher for the in the other quarters.

The amount of space SA players were allowed was quite amazing. Backwell around the forward 50, where his bread and butter goals occur regularly, had two instances where he was 30 metres clear on his own. I can't recall too many times where two teammates had the wing to themselves, but Dabrowski and another SA player did have that at one stage. An on another occasion, where Dabrowski won a hit out, it went straight to Powell who snapped a goal, all on his own.

In the second quarter, there was a few minutes where SA couldn't do anything wrong. Schell had two blind turns past two opponents and did it well, Crane I think, took a one handed mark and made it look easy, then Treeby almost pulled off an even better one. Seven SA players kicked multiple goals, to Victorias two, Nahas I think is unanimous in Victorias best.

Treeby who hasn't kicked Goals for WWT (or not that many) this year kicked multiple goals .
Alleway I have had doubts in the past I am now convinced .To quote some footy guy from the past "TO TALL TO BIG TO GOOD"

Victoria to small to slow to much stop start footy to win all day.Hart had the SA side playing that "Sturt style or SA handball run game".
The second quarter was awesome stuff guys well done !!

I'd expect them to play finals footy this year.

The 2nd highest score against the VFA (or VFL, this acronym is used throughout this list) now, the highest is 28.19 (187) in 1951.
The highest score against Victoria under State League conditions, previous was 21.15 (141) in 1934.
Highest score by SA in either State or State of Origin matches since 30.18 (198) was scored in 1985 against WA.
The highest 2nd term score against the VFL, previous was 6.6 (42) in 1980.
And the highest 2nd term score against any Victorian team under State League conditions, 9.1 (55) was scored in the 1934 match above.

I think we know why the Vics are coming. The weather in Adelaide must be a big factor. The pastey Vics were even wearing sun block. Why would you want slog it out on heavy grounds each week when you can come over the boarder and be treated to match conditions like we had today. Over the history Vics have played plenty of South Aussies. Good to see the balance redressing. If there presence strenghens our league then so be it.

Did anyone notice that the tassie lads were taking off their jumpers when they were interchanged .Kept thinking theyd put on an ice vest next.

I noticed that as well, it's a bit weird, what's the bet that they do that in Hobart as well.
