Can the Dogs win or will South do it for their new Coach?
I think the Dogs will.

Sorry but if South win this game it will be the biggest upset in the history of the sanfl. Even in years where we fielded a reasonable team we have been soundly thrashed at Elizabeth since about 1980. Cannot remember the last time we won at Elizabeth, cue spelly.

Hey Footy Fans,

So how do we think the Doggies side will go against a troubled Panthers outfit on Saturday ? With the off field dilemmas South Adelaide are having with Jack leaving, is this a danger game for Centrals ? You would hope not and if the same side that thrashed Port comes out to face South this weekend, then they SHOULD win by a fair bitmore than what they beat the Maggies by ???

Will Ian 'Nutta' Callinan be fully recovered from his hammy, improving the sides fire-power up forward or will he miss yet another game ? If he doesn't play, you would think the side would not change, despite a few players performing well, pushing their hopes of a league call up. Will there be room for Luke Cowan to slot back into the forward line, I don't think so, despite him playing himself back into a bit form in the magoos last week (still needs to work on his goal kicking though)

I think The Doggies will win very comfortably, with South playing for a bit of restored pride and trying to impress their new coach Clay Sampson. I think they will stay with them for the first half of the game before Centrals superior skill, class and poise will overrun the Panthers side, to record a 10-15 goal win. Dan Havelberg to dominate up forward yet again and kick maybe 6 or 7 goals...

GO U DOGGIES...

Big Phil...

P.S - It was interesting to see in the Sunday Mail that the best player for Kilburn in the amatuer league, Div 3, was a player with the surname STENGLE... Good chance it was Alex Stengle who quit the club a few weeks back due to frustration at a lack of opportunity at league level. Real shame someone with his talent is now only playing Div 3 ammos ???!! Should be playing league at another club if he can't get into Centrals line up. Another rumor about the same thing with yet another fringe player, in Chris Musolino might now also be true as there was a Musolino named best for Virginia in The Adelaide Plains League. A shame if we lose another good kid from the club.

Was Pringles good enough to play league BP?

Musolino was supposed to be leaving in the pre-season, so it seems destined to have happened.

Hey Dogwatcher,

I reckon he was on the verge of at least getting an opportunity, who knows from there...

Is he in our best "available" 21, no I don't think so, BUT these type of players, who have come through ALL the junior grades are the ones we want to be hanging around to become future League stars (which I reckon Stinga WAS capable of becoming). The move of sending him to the back lines was a great one and I would have thought that in the coming few seasons when some of our senior on ballers retire and we rely more on the likes of Thommo, Slattery, Dutchke etc to play REGULARLY on the ball, Alex would have slotted nicely into defence or rotating across half forward. His speed and ability to read the play are too bloody good to be running around in the Div 3 Kilburn side with Adrian Wilson...

I'm not concerned as much with Mussa, although I do think he is a good footballer and if true, it's a shame that he has left the club. I guess if his heart and mind isn't in the right place, he'd be better off playing with his mates out at Viginia. I just think he was a 'bit' player and never really found his positional niche. I know he played a fair bit of footy in defence but I reckon his lack of pace and skill level, at times, let him down. I think that Alex is a bigger loss than Chris, if Chris has actually left the club. I guess it just gives more opportunities to younger guys to play a level higher up. This is a good thing for the club, as long as the depth is there.

GO U DOGGIES...

Hopefully, that will be just what Daniel Havelberg kicks himself...

I certainly hope so, but I think it will be more like a comfy, nothing spectacular 10 goal win... :(

I don't like to see guys leaving, but if they aren't able to crack our league team at the ages they are at then they aren't massive talents. And if they just up and leave then they obviously aren't willing to work hard to overcome that lack of talent. I do believe Stengle in particular could have become a good league player in time. But if his heart's not in it to the point he pulls the pin then it just goes to show he didn't deserve that chance anyway.

Anyway, I suspected that Callinan was ruled out for 2 weeks to make sure he was cherry ripe for this game so I would be a little surprised if he didn't play. Also, Gowans and Slattery should be back the game after the South game.

If the dogs don't cream South it will be an upset! Was there the game at HHO (not that it was called HHO back then) about 5 years ago when we smashed South by 180 or so from memory. This game feels like it could be similar if South are as bad as they can be and the dogs are as good as they can be.

I think we've done it a couple of times Graham.
I recall a day in the late 80s early 90s (Stoeckel/Grummet) type era when we did the same to them.

I'm pretty sure there was a game, from memory, that we did pump South at Elizabeth in the early 2000's...

I seem to remember an aboriginal fella from South (Rigney, I think, can't remember his first name) having a big biffo with one of the Gowans twins (well probably both of them !!??) and getting reported for it ??? I could be wrong with the Rigney thing, but I do remember thrashing The Panthers by close to 20 goals in the last few years, at home...

Spelly might be able to pull something up for us.... ????
