It made me feel sick to read this in the paper today, I hope that it is not factual, yet if it is then I hope it motivates the members to sweeping changes at board level.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

From the Advertiser (Rucci)

Coaches Fighting for a Fair Deal - snippet,

"South Adelaide despite the lower profile of the SANFL is is assured as much if the Pyman case moves out of mediation and into the civil courts. It to has the elements of a soap opera, more so now that Hall of Famer Jack Cahill has quit as the Panthers coach - less than a year after Pyman was sacked with a year to serve of a two year contract.

There is the new Cahill element, the emotive reality of Pyman's ill nine year old daughter Georgia who has profound disablilites and a terminal condition. Her lifestyle needs are being comprimised as Pyman fights for any money owed to him. The Advertiser understands Pyman the only coach to take South to the finals in 16 years has been offered less than one dollar for every five that he has claimed.

There is the sage of the external review - made by former VFL player and SANFL coach Kevin Morris - which virtually declared that issues beyond Pyman's control made it impossible for him to coach the Panthers.

Cahill's exit from Noarlunga on Tuesday night suggests the cultural anchors exposed in the Pyman era have not been resolved, regardless of Souths insistance that it has cleaned up the club to the point of moving on board members.

Cahill's exit after just eight games has increased curiosity, well beyond Panther supporters on Souths extrodianary ways.

Former player Ryan Fitzgerald's call to 5aa on Wed night highlights the seemingly toxic environment at Noarlunga where the SANFL premiership flag has not risen since 1964.

The Advertiser understands any civil court hearing to resolve Pymans case will detail off field events that undermined South last season and explain Kevin Morris's conclusion that the Panthers were doomed regardless of their coach.

Why so many players left South at the end of last season, how off field events might have forced changes to the board and Morris' report make Pymans Court Case potentially as enthralling as Thomas' (St Kilda). Neither South nor Pyman would make public comment.

I think you'll also find that Fitzy got a gig on fiveaa because of his status as a past player but moreso because he works for Nova - which like 5AA is owned by dmg Radio Australia.

Fitzy said something along the lines of Jack Cahill and Neil Craig having opposite playing plans which made it hard for ex-Crows at South to perform. (Didn't hear the interview myself so someone please correct me if I am adrift on this one.....).

A bit adrift Squawk, Fitzy was fired up suggested Jack took the money and ran, South need a South person to coach, Jack's methods were crash in kick long too old fashion with no plan B like younger experienced AFL associated coaches have. I liked Fitzy's passion and he defended the club and tried hard not to say directly that Jack had passed it and was looking for an excuse to leave but it was only thinly disguised. Thought both Fitzy and Dave Flanagan did good work in defended SAFC with passion and not taking any backward steps in what had been a tough week.

Who the hell does Fitzy think he is, what a disgrace he was on KG and Cornes! [-(
If he thinks that Jack Cahill went there for $$$$ and had no idea about coaching then he knows nothing. Jack Cahill has done more in the sanfl and vfl/afl than any of there past 5 coaches have  And How many flags have jack won??
If south Adelaide wants to something good for the sanfl THEY SHOULD MERGE with another club!

Also it wasn’t the crows or Sydney or south Adelaide that made Ryan famous, it was that pathetic show called BIG BROTHER, which should get the axe. People complain on how bad the channel 9 footy show is, well BIG BROTHER makes that show look like play school. Also Ryan was just an average injury plagued footballer and nothing else. He wont be remembered On what he did.

Take them to the cleaners Robbie and don’t forget your always welcome back at Oval Ave

All this merger talk is getting a little boring isnt it? It's not going to happen. Nor should it. 8)

Who are we going to merge with? The bays?

I dont know enough about the Pyman situation, but hopefully he receives what is rightfully his.

Perhaps we could merge South, Centrals, and Glenelg, then split them into two and make life easier for all the other teams!

Just to beat Pseudo & Rushby to the punch...

So long as one of those teams is the Central District Bulldogs, wears red, white & blue hooped guernseys and plays & trains at Elizabeth Oval and retains the current Central District playing, coaching and administration personnel then that is a great idea!

My idea was to make each of Central and Glenelg take half the South players, and half the administrators, to give them the "culture" they need.
