well according to the vfl site, life fm & 1611am were negotiating for 3 weeks for 1611am taking the game feed from life fm for the state match & on monday life fm said no   :? :? well 5rph has done the right thing & agreed to give them the feed (good for the smithfield crash clangers etc) why would life fm procrastinate over this :? :?   ?

Maybe they had to pray about it?

Is there any truth in this Phil.? If so, why would Life FM, who have been / are such great supporters of the SANFL not want to do the feed.

I realise that you probably / possibly don't have much say on Life FM policy, but it is such a shame that you won't be there come 5:00am ( ), after such an emotional write up in your Philosopy thread.

I doubt that's the whole story. And it doesn't sound at all like they "procrastinated". Sounds like they weren't happy to do it and said no. If they were negotiating then obviously 1611 were given conditions under which they could get the feed, and in the end didn't agree. If Life just didn't want to give it to them they would have just said no to begin with.

What sort of outfit are 1611? Is there a reason why they wouldn't call it themselves? Do they not have the resources, time or expertise to do it outside the state?

LIFE FM will be broadcasting the State Game from 1.15pm on Saturday.

It will be available on 107.9FM in Adelaide & on the web http://www.life.on.net

As for 1611am a couple of comments

Well done to RPH for doing a joint call and ensuring the broadcast goes live in Melbourne.

As to why LifeFM did not take it up I am not sure, it was made by the station management but a joint call can be a logistical nightmare

It requires the people in two studios to be right on the button playing the resprective ads etc, especially our mid-quarter one.

The last time a joint call happened it was for last years VFL v WAFL game

3SERFM has a commentator from 6RPH on board and relayed the call back to Perth

Great idea in theory but in practice they ended up before the Australian Broadcasting Authority for breaching their community licence. Appears the 6RPH commentator kept on listing their WA sponsors without the appropriate tags. This was deemed to be advertising on 3SER and the complaint was upheld.

Well they did do it once before in 2006 with the SA v WA game going back to 6RPH in Perth whereas this was the first ever state game LifeFM had done let alone simulcast interstate.

As I said previously Good on RPH for doing it. Will be interesting how the radio works with the next two interstate games
in Perth (2009) & Melbourne (2011).

And BTW before more rumours start I will not be calling the Central v South game on Saturday (Doug Oakley will be filling in with John Nankivell).
Now before anyone starts conspiracy theories why I would not be calling the first South game on LifeFM this year, let me be clear it is just a coincidence. I had a long planned family trip to Melbourne set in concrete well before the matches were allocated. As much as calling football is the highlight of my week, I am looking forward to having a rest with my very own bye.
