Great for Westies, fans, players and of course Andy Collins to get their first win of the year.
Thought as bad as Centrals played last week, Westies were good at times and you could see a win wasn't too far away... YEAH !!!
South really sliding now after a pretty good start to the year and now really showing their true colours as to where they sit in the comp.
Big Phil...

Here's my review:
We were SH*T.
What sort of a team loses to the bottom side, who is winless, after a 5 goal head start?
One hell of a f*cked up rabble, that's what.
Absolutely PATHETIC effort after quarter time. A complete capitulation.
Ben Warren, hold your head high.
The majority of the rest of the team should be rightfully embarrassed after that debacle.
Enough is enough.
There is no excuse for that.

...and probably should have mentioned, credit to Westies for not giving up after being 5 goals down.
Good on them for gutsing out a good win.

Blunt facts is that South do not have the players to be able to put a competitive side together.
Every year that I have supported the club I have read the usual parephenalia from the club about what they have done to improve and how we will be a competitive side and in most cases we end up either just missing the five or putting in results like today and finishing either as the wooden spooners or as close as possible to it.
Is it any wonder that the SAFC are regarded as a joke by a number of people around the SANFL? The club has been perpetually losing since 1964 and there isnt much to suggest that this situation is likely to change any time soon.
The club seemed to be in such a good position three weeks in from the start of this season, so to see this as a result is so bitterly dissapointing.
What concerns me is that there is nothing that the club or anyone involved can say to convince me that in five years time from now the result will not be any different.
This hurts me to say this and it comes from someone who loves the SAFC with a passion, yet if at the end of Jacks tenure if we seriously cannot make the finals and put a competive side on the field I think that push has to come to shove and that there has to be a price to be paid for it, that price is to begin amalgamation talks with another SANFL club. We have to do whatever it takes to break the loser culture at South and sadly outside of an amalgamation I cannot see another way of it happening.

I too am bitterly disappointed at todays result. To kick 6 goals in the first quarter and then only 2 for the remainder of the game is an insipid effort. Boyd, Elliott and Warren and Rolfe on debut were good- the rest a shambles. Realistically we have around 10 players playing in the league side who are really only average reserves players. Skill level absolutely appalling resulting in costly turnovers and letting Westies in for easy goals. Well done to West, we have a long , long way to go.

I am in an angry mood at the moment.
what a start to the game - then the usual capitulation and the yearly slide down the ladder - it just shows the depth of the club is thin very thin.
but i think it is deeper than that - i believe that the coaching staff especially from the reserves need to be reviewed and soon before the haemoraging becomes too great - they really have no idea - how could they be happy with a coach and maybe his helpers to be 0-7 before todays game then - let it almost slip, trip over and basically fall in during that last quarter for their first win.
i am sure there are good footballers in the football club that are probably played in wrong positions and not given enough time to get some confidence
and you can not tell me that the biggest signing outside of Torney is Sandery - he must be a good networker or friends with the right ppl to still be starting in the league team
Yes i am angry - they are a good team - they have shown how well they can play - so maybe it is the coaching or their staff within this football club are the wrong mix (AGAIN!!)

Lets just say West persisted throughout the game and it finally paid off for our first win of the season which was very well received from the faithful 800 or so supporters that turned up.
I feel sorry for the South supporters after having to witness what their team dished up today. makes me feel less upset knowing there are supporters out there who have more pain than us.
The wolf pack was in full swing today with the Coach and sponsored player more than happy to pose for a few pics with the lads.

Which will be rounded up to just over 1,000 of course.

Dont know who is the worst club ?
Norwood for kicking 1-3 against Glenelg
or South for getting beaten by West Adelaide

I think West are a bit underrated, actually.

I reckon you blokes will take out the wooden spoon still, your right with one thing, you are a rabble!
Jack will pull the pin end of year as he'll realise that mob can't be helped & he wouldn't like what its doing to his reputation as far as a coach.

I am not meaning to sound rude , but you are not a good team. You will finish like I have always thought in the bottom 2. You just beat Port & West and could have lost those 2. Cahill played it down big time at the start of the year and Glenelg got sucked in by that.
To blame your coaching staff is nothing short of ridiculous. John Cahill & Michael Tylor ?
Your problem is and has been for years your administration. They have developed a very very bad culture over the years. You must clear the decks at the top and build again then worry about onfield. Sorry if this sounds harsh but it is FACT. People at the top change and are replaced by the same thinking people , they just pass over the baton. Lets face it , who celebrates being runner up like South have for the 1979 team ?

Then back to Port a la Fos in 1962 after his year at South???

He'll get his first wooden spoon this year.
Surely Port wouldn't bring him back again, who's he going to teach the ropes to next? it hasn't worked with Timmy.
