Some top names in that list, but I think Westies have had many more issues to discuss than just the players they've lost to the AFL.

You should be proud that West have been able to develop such talent, and have some claim to those players when you watch them parading around in the AFL.

And yes, you would still be bottom because those players were all bound to leave anyway.

All very promising young players that would win a flag together in three years if they hung around.

I was interested to learn whilst watching the Carlton vs. WCE game last week that Beau Waters heralds from the same "hit a bloke from behind when he isn't expecting it" THUG school as former THUG, Dean Howard.

Some blokes are tough, which he is undoubtedly, but he loses my respect when he thinks tough can sometimes mean hitting blokes from behind.

Still...a handy side, but the argument remains that most other clubs could name a half decent side of players that have gone to the AFL.

The only difference between West and the Eagles losing so many is that West lost 5 - 6 in one year and most of them played in the 2003 GF...Unfortunately the Honorable Mr Rehn and Co. did not recruit well enough after to replace them and decided to stick mainly with juniors. But as we all have seen the cream was taken and what was left were not good enough to go on to play league footy. (well, not enough good juniors anyway).

Centrals not being one of them. We don't have 22 current players playing AFL. That probably explains why we are having a period of dominance in the SANFL.

Very true.

Rehn did recruit quite a few players during his time, but injury meant they never contributed as much as the club hoped. (i.e. pat steinfort, ben marsh, mark dragacevic, andrew crowell, patrick wiggins)
