Will someone take action to ensure defenders receives protec

Postby Rushby Hinds » Tue May 06, 2008 9:53 pm

I am tired to death of seing (sic) the SANFL's best defenders totally unfairly played against.

Will this ensure a new interpretation or will the current panel be more assertive?

Good to see Sturt back in the light blue shorts. :wink:

Well did the umpire make a mistake or do you believe they are great like others ? You need to see things in more than a few frames to say to be honest all though it does look like he his holding. But he does miss a lot of frees trust me. There are times as I have said that he plays it well and it looks like a free but its not.

Thats 1 shot I am sure you wont find too many more . Looks like the video was coming from the stand ?

Have to say looking at these that the glenelg player was easily brushed aside though or was he taking a dive ? Great player Chambo can't deny that.

Any truth to the talk about Chinese Commandos being allowed on the field (already have the double blue tracksuits) to escort Chambo on all leads next game?

Quiz question can anyone pick if either or both of these laws have been broken in the above frames appropriately and professionaly pulled* from the DVD of the recent game between Glenelg and Sturt...

Law 15.4.5
A field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against a Player where he or
she is satisfied that the Player has made Prohibited Contact with an
opposition Player.
A Player makes Prohibited Contact with an opposition Player if he
or she:

(c) holds an opposition Player who is not in possession of the
football;

(e) holds or throws an opposition Player after that Player has
disposed of the ball;

http://www.afl.com.au/Portals/0/afl_docs/Development/umpiring/Laws%20of%20football_2008.pdf

As I said to Rushby in a PM Chambers did the same thing in the 4th quarter for one of his marks and goals (not as obvious and not as bad but definately held and then threw Sam out of the way then marked the ball)....but hey you win some you lose some when it comes to umpiring decisions and it all evens up over the course of a game...if as Eddie-Eagle (IIRC) pointed out in another thread you get first to the footy.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

So why are you going on about it like it's the only free kick ever missed ?? You win some you lose some, some people are carrying on like you have lost them all !

Quoting the rule book now , that is a bit pathetic for on here mate.
