Wow, 4 whole paragraphs. Was Candice even at the game? Probably the briefest match report I've ever seen. I haven't seen the Advertiser this morning, surely the report in the paper is not this short.

No it's not. Much lengthier. Someone else has brought this up elsewhere.

Its much longer in teh 'Tiser quite lengthy in fact.

Ont eh basis that it had more decent SANFL reports I brought it today, normally I don't. When they up their SANFL reports and give it some dcent coverage I buy it. IMO its the only footy reports worth reading in that tome. For my AFL reports I go to thage.com.au.

Far more balanced and informative IMO at realfooty.com.au
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Now we are on the standard safooty.net tangent

Douggies shoes will be big ones to fill, working with Candice and the Advertiser Crew in the press box yesterday (I was writing for Messenger) I am sure she will do well, regardless of whatever issues atlanta and others may need to deal with.

She certainly summed up the match up better and faster than I did, I was still there typing away at 6.30pm, some two hours after the game. I am too spoilt by the unlimited space to write here on the web site and need to work on staying within the word count.

That said it is very different doing written match reports than live radio commentary. For one, during the game I kept on feeling like I needed to be doing something or saying something, checking an around the grounds score or promoting a sponsor. Given the tightness of the game there just wasn't much you could write until games end.
Then there was going into the rooms for post game quotes from the coaches, a very interesting experience.

So if you want some work to go over with a fine tooth coombe grab a Guardian or News Review this week. Central fans may think me a little harsh but it pales into praise when I got Roy Lairds thoughts on the Bulldogs season so far.
