Not good news on the SAFC website, unsure of exactly what happened yet no doubt we will find out in due course. Condolonces to his family though who words probably dont do justice to express what they must be going through right now. :(

Sam Davis
Monday 5 May

The thoughts of the whole of the South Adelaide FC are with the Davis family following the tragic loss of their son Sam.

Sam has been a popular member of the club’s junior program for a number of years, with recent form suggesting elevation to the senior section was not far away.

Stunned and distraught junior players, officials and counselors met at the Club last night. Training has been cancelled tonight, but players, their parents and club officials will again congregate at the club to support each other during this most difficult period for all concerned.

All enquiries should be directed to SAFC CEO, Ben Kavenagh, at the club on 8186 8200.

The lad played in the U19 side for the Panthers and was developing well as a footballer, I am not sure if he had played any games as yet in the ressies?

Agreed, almost happened to Matty Wright late last year too.
Lock these little bastards up after their first infringement so they can't go and do something like this, lock the parents up too while you're at it.

Was apparently trying to stop a fight and was struck from behind. Such a terrible tragedy, I'm sure all of our thoughts are with the Davis family.

Something is wrong with the world when so many young people are fighting at social gatherings, especially when innocent bystanders are paying the price.

100% agree Scoop, one feels for the parents...

Why oh why do we let known recidivists get away with so much???

Tragic, condolences to all...

Same thing happened to my brother in 2000, after reading this and the Hookesy incident I still cant believe he pulled thru it after being in a coma for 2 weeks...the head is so fragile, unfortuantely its takes incidents like these to remind us of it... :(

Sad story..

Condolences to the family, SAFC, and others...

Too young and too tragic...

Hope the culprit gets locked away for LIFE, not a slap sentence...

Bloody hell, what a tragedy. It is in these times where sporting/footy clubs can provide comfort and support to the family and friends and iám sure SAFC will do so. Sympathy to all concerned.

Very sad. Condolences.

I've often been the one who steps in to try and stop a fight - makes me think how lucky I've been to never cop one.

Far out, you can't ever be prepared to read an article like that, and what Scoop has said above is sadly, so true.

As others have said, condolensces to family and friends and the SAFC on such a needless loss :(

Sincerest condolences to the family, and friends. Tragedy is a word used too often but this is most certainly a tragedy.
