Exciting Time in the SANFL or what ?

Postby johntheclaret » Sun May 04, 2008 2:55 am

Is it me or is the SANFL getting more exciting.

South start like a house on fire (no reference to Punky intended), then get a hammering at North. Sturt belt North, and then get belted by both Glenelg and WWT. North really outplayed WWT and should have won by a much bigger scoreline. Now if, (yes it's that word again) the Bays beat Centrals tomorrow, what an open competition we have so far. There was aslo quite a bit of anticipation around how Norwood and West will do this year and maybe they have still got a few suprises up thier sleeve.

I realise that there a just a few  more knowledgeable footy followers around than me who will blow the idea apart, but right now, for me, the SANFL is proving to be an exciting and unpredictable league where maybe 3 or four teams will be in for a real shout at winnning a GF.

Great stuff, and surely can only be good for the promotion of the league. Just a thougth.

I truly believe that West is better than what they have shown so far. I reckon it will take a bit of time for all the players to get used to each other as well as the new coach but when they do they will cause a few upsets. Look for them to have a good second half of the year. There always has to be a side on the bottom but it's good for the comp that the side on the bottom isn't a rabble and has a lot of potential.

We (North) were lucky with the Eagles - they had a lot of big outs and now they are starting to settle a side they are showing how good they will be.

No easy games in this comp and it does make for a good overall product!

Agreed - a win must be around the corner. And they will have a good chance next week given Sturt's poor form yesterday.

Im the opposite JTC, the SANFL is boring me for the first time since Ive followed it.
Standard on the decline IMHO.
I just go to catch up with family and friends and take photos for my websites.

So why are the crowds so poor?

Can we break 20000 this weekend?

No AFL in SA this weekend only opposition is the Saturday night telecast of the AFL 150 years game starting at 7:30 and hour after the start time of the Dogs v Eagles at Elizabeth.

So Friday night at the Parade Legs v Maggies
(will 5aa & the ABC be a broadcasters this week?)
then the 2 day games on Saturday afternoon and then
the main game of the weekend Dogs v Eagles

Nah you're right, perhaps for some reason I just don't have the passion I used to, that's a fair call, I'd probably think its a combination of the 2 though.
Really enjoyed today's game and I still really enjoy taking photos. :D

Come down to Alberton wedgie. We have this full-forward who is an excitement machine and is kicking bags of goals - and he's quite a character as well. I can't believe his old club were so foolish as to let him go...

Wedgie - any chance you are experiencing a "let down" after the Catters exploits last season?

Having said that - I kind of agree with you. My passion meter is down a bit at the minute, and I'm not just talking about the bedroom!
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Fatal if it wasnt so far I woukd.
Hazy, nah, quite the opposite as my enjoyment of the AFL is at an all time high with the way Geelong play he game.
Mind you if I had to watch Port or Sydney every week it would be the opposite.

Come on Lads , Fire up ! Look at all the people on here from interstate and overseas, they'd give their left nut to be going to an SANFL game this weekend. Look at the ladder and results , its never been closer for a while. COME ON ! ( insert Lleyton Hewitt emoticon here )

Woohoo...seriously, AFL free weekend, how hard would it be for them to relay a Life or RPH game...

Well done the ABC on going to a game...
