Are the Eagles back !!!

Postby eaglehaslanded » Sun Apr 27, 2008 4:47 pm

That makes 2 wins on the trot with the side getting better and better each week. With more players back in the coming weeks. The Eagles should be back at full strength soon. Are the Eagles back? Only time will tell and this weeks game against Sturt will be a true test. I hope this inclement weather sticks around.

While I would not normally agree with Glenelg fans well maybe bayman .
I would have to agree with LBT at present .If my beloved Eagles do beat sturt then you can say they are back .
IF is a very big word in footy !!

OH perhaps Spelly could list all the years Port have beaten the EAGLEs in the early part of the season .Sorry but Port beating the EAGLES in the first 6 rounds is nothing NEW.Even in 2006 I would have thought .

LBT I thought we had problems when West kicked the first three !!!
No one is expecting the EAGLES to win next week so you know what that means

i would think wwt $2.60 & sturt $1.55, mickyj i think wwt can win & they do seem to have the wood on sturt & your better players that have comeback already have had a run or two under their belts but the blokes that we spoke about earlier in the year have to stand up this week
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Agreed LBT we have only beaten two ordinary sides. Some promising signs have been there in the past 2 outings though and you can only beat whoever your opponent is on the day no matter how bad or good another side is. A win is a win. With more players due back I think we're on the way - maybe not back just yet but we are on the way. Like I said in my original post this week coming against Sturt will be a true test.

It's too easy to just say Eagles have only beaten Norwood and West Adelaide, but they won with Passador up at full forward. Having a goalscoring target up forward makes all the difference. It straightens a team up and makes them more direct. I think the Eagles are a good side, and could well be in the action come finals in 2008.

There were some signs yesterday I think EHL is alluding to them . Long direct play to free players who get the ball to passador and co up forward.

Can agree with that AH. Plus throw in players that can crumb up forward like was shown yesterday against west.

This stat actually surprised me, the only time that we have beaten Port in the first six rounds was in 1994 (Round 6). And the only other two times that we have beaten Port in the first meeting was in 2004 and 2005 - both Round 8. Subsquently in the next meeting after those matches were losses.

I see 2008 as a rebuilding year for the Wiggles. They have made so many changes that they will take time to form up as a cohesive unit.

$turt & Glenelg will be the big improvers this year.
We used to be good :-(
