ANZAC Clash: Central V North Match Review

Postby smac » Fri Apr 25, 2008 7:26 pm

What a great day! Although I'm sure the final result helped that along...

Dogs were a little up and down, but did enough to ensure the win and were the better team on the day.

Will drink some more tonight and think of some best players and a match review to post later.

Wasn't a too bad of a game. Umpires were a little poor in the 3rd, but set up what could have been a even closer finish.
Reserves was a good game.

Bull shit frees? pfft didn't look bull shit on TV and why wasn't Slade penalised for calling the boundary umpire a f***ing cheat twice (once you'd let go but twice??? especially when it was so audible it wasn't funny) when he tried a blind turn to keep the ball in play.

If the umpire had clamped down on Slade then maybe he would have kept his mouth shut in the 3rd qtr when he gave away the two 25 m penalties....

Also in the last qtr when Gowan got the free kick and 25 m when Allaway came in late why wasn't it reversed when Faulkner charged Allaway???

After the goal from the two 50 s in the 3rd qtr the free kick count was 16 - 14 Centrals way so its not like North were getting a ride   .
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Tas, you of all people should not think an even free kick count means umpires did a good job, or were consistent.

And Faulkner thought Allaway was an alleyway when he tried to run through him, honest mistake...

True, but watching the game at home with a few quiet West Ends nothing untoward about the umpiring IMO...

Ha - you were pi55ed!

Seriously, I thought the umpires were OK. A few decisions were a little confusing, but take out the fact I was at the game and perhaps a couple (or more  ) metres from the umpire, he may have seen some things better than I. A couple of replays still looked dodgy but I'm sure North supporters will say the same - all square at the end of the day.

Yeh, there was a couple of baffling decisions (or non decisions) that went both ways, but the double 50m and the 25's in the 3rd, even a couple of Dogs fans near us admitted that they came from undisciplined stuff.

In the end a good game of footy, the best side on the day won, only low point was the comment made to an active soldier wearing his medals, he was asked something along the lines of was he proud of the killing of inocent people to get the medals, very poor form any day, on ANZAC day it was just plain disgraceful.

I agree with the thoughts about the 25's... We did the same against Sturt, too slow to learn that the umpires are cracking down on things - at least we did change today (eventually), unlike the Sturt game.

Your low point sounds like very poor form to me, I'm sure the person who said that would be much happier under Japanese rule, or worse.

That was a disgrace and the young chap who was drinking underage with a group of his mates was one of the biggest dickheads i have ever seen. In fact the whole group of them were a bunch of ungrateful rude knobs whose biggest achievement in life will be learning to walk on their hind legs.

Keep it quite short and simple, the best side in the comp won the game, their coach should be very pissed off with the end result as far as the winning margin was
