Well done to Glenelg we went to sleep after halftime.
We need a back up ruckman can't rely on Willets as a backup ruckman.
Hopefully we will have Moran back next week
Reserves Scores
Glenelg 19-17-131
West Adelaide 10.9 69

i thought we were ordinary in the first half, west appeared more desperate and deserved their lead at the half, the third qtr was a lot better west stopped as if shot and our intensity was fantastic, the last qtr should have been a blow out as we dominated but kicked too many points. the acid test is next week at the playground, if we can produce the pressure that we did in the 3rd qtr today over 3 or 4 terms we are in with a chance.
Btw if cupidoll is on 85k then the bloods need to bring back doug cos fair dinkum he aint worth $85.00

Cranny did seem to get a fair share of the taps, but I reckon Westies might have won more clearances. Happy to be proven wrong by someone with the stats
Glenelg ordinary in the first term. Threatened to take the game in the second, I reckon Westies looked rattled halfway through the term when the ascendancy was with the Bays, but it wan't to be. Glenelg's third term was superb, but they let the intensity off in the last. Looked to be playing hold-up footy early on, and let themselves down with a bit of lairising and sloppy delivery.
Westies aren't far off, IMO. They had a dip right until the end of the match, and I reckon looked better than when they won last year's match. They'll win their share of games this year. Looks to me like the away guernsey has changed - now the wolf is wholly on the front of the jumper. Good work. Much more aesthetically pleasing than only getting a glimpse of it when Kewpie Doll flashes his armpits!

West were infront at half time in the overall clearances but behind in the Centre Breaks. At the end of the game glenelg were ahead in all clearances except the boundary throw-ins. These stats are from the Westies statisticians so may not be the same as Glenelgs but i would hope they are very similar.

Can any West fans tell me why Westies were playing a loose man in defence right from the start of the game??? Not after five mins not after qtr time but right from the start of the game??? I mean whilst I love the Glenelg Footy club were are not that bloody good that we deseve a loose man in defence right from the start of the game? it is very hard to win games if you have a defensive mindset.
I thought after the trial game Westies had a bit of a future but watching them yesterday with their energy sapping inefficient chip and kick style which may be great in the AFL but in the SANFL where less skilled and less fit footballers purvey it is tactic and style that is doomed to failure.
Has anyone at Westies managed to show Collins some tapes of Port in the 80s and 90s and now Centrals in the 00s as to what style of footy is successful in the SANFL, it ain't no coincidence.
For us yesterday it was a matter of maintaining the tackling and harrassing of the Westies blokes with the ball and the skills would break down as they did in the 2nd half. Whilst they were fit and fresh in the first half it worked but given the energy sapping demands of their game plan we knew it would fall apart. Couple that with our tackling (like South would've done) and like the South game their ability to hit that 2nd and 3rd target after their first kick fell right away. (Haven't seen Norwood so I can't comment on them but knew how South wanted to play based on what they did to us)
I'm sorry Westies fans but I see another spoon for you this year at best you'll finish 7-8 especially if you are playing your beter players (Cupido and Bailey) 1 & 1/2 to 2 kicks away from the goals.

Well, TM, playing someone 'loose in defence' in modern football isn't necessarily a defensive move. I venture to say that all teams do the same in different ways, so perhaps you should look beyond the obvious. In any event, with that structure, we played some good footy and led at half-time, so the game plan couldn't have been that bad.
We were blown away after half-time and played poorly, but I'd be a bit wary about getting ahead of yourself by offering a coach such as Andy Collins such gratuitous advice on how to coach.
It might just come back to bite you, so I'll store this one away for later
