SOUTH ADELAIDE’S JAMES TURNER WINS ROUND 2 COCA-COLA STAR SEARCH AWARD NOMINATION

James Turner from the South Adelaide Football Club has been named the Round Two Coca-
Cola Star Search Award nominee.

Playing his 9th League match, 19 year old Turner was named in the Panthers’ best in their three point
thriller over the Port Adelaide Magpies at Alberton Oval on Saturday.

James accumulated 17 possessions, playing at full back, including 13 kicks, four handballs, five marks
and two tackles. He also created a lot of drive from defence whilst restricting his experienced opponent,
Daniel Hargraves, to one goal.

Recruited from the McLaren Vale Football Club, James played his first League match for South Adelaide
in round 3 of the 2007 season. Rookie listed with the Adelaide Crows in 2007, Turner was part of the
South Australian Under 18 team in 2006.

Sadly for South i think James will re-drafted by an AFL club at the end of the year, they will also be looking closely at Sam Elliott and James Boyd. Great for the players, not so good for the Panthers to establish a team of players who have come up through the club and enjoy being a Panther.

very unlucky to get the flick from the crows,showed alot of promise last year and is really starting to hit his straps this season.Along with Sam Elliot(who was also a crows rookie in season 2006)and James Boyd we have three young players who are starting to play good football,and I am hoping they have stellar seasons.They may even come under they eye of AFL talent scouts.

James was very, very good on Saturday. Not sure if he's up to AFL level though as he still needs to add a lot of weight. However he was superb on Saturday not only in shutting down his man but he started a lot of plays from defence.

but in fairness, and without being unreasonable to him (Hargraves) because he has been a great player, he was only on Hargraves and did struggle when Maric went on to him
