Round 3, 2008 - Central v Norwood @ Hamra Homes Oval

Postby Big Phil » Sun Apr 06, 2008 7:49 pm

I know Norwood have a close fought win on the weekend against the new look Bloods, but...

With Centrals coming off a dissapointing effort against early pacesetters, the Double Blues, I would not want to be a player on the end of an angry Central Districts outfit. No doubt we wont see anything like last years 20 goal smashing, in the corresponding game, but Centrals would have to play worst than they did yesterday and Norwood would have to be at the absolute best for it to be a real close sontest.

Surely the Doggies will come out next Saturday night, extremely focused on atoning the effort they put from the week previous. All I can say is look out Trevor Hill and the Redlegs.... !!?

GO U DOGGIES...

you might not see 'the berg' kick 14 but you'll see a 15-20 goal margin given a decent night weather wise

Everyone better get to the Ponderosa on Saturday night to see day light when the sun goes down. There will be daylight between the two teams. Norwood WILL get flogged and it wont be pretty if you are a Redleg. You will be giving that much of a spanking, after the match you will be call the Redar*es. 70+ to the Dogs

I hope the Centrals players feel the same way !
If they do they will go down.
Best time to play Centrals is early in the year...they had a slow start last year too.

 I wish i drove an Audi or BMW stuck with the Magna next week, hopefully norwood turn up with their A game next week and we have a good game. In my opinion Centrals are no where near as good as last season (yes i know its only 2 rounds down and yes they will get the result when it matters) but after seeing them last weekend i believe they lack that X factor i have seen in the doggies in the last couple of years.
How ya geeeen?

There will come a time when CDFC's age and reliance on Slade, Gowans et al will catch up with it. Even the powerhouses of the AFL and the millions they spend on list management can't ensure neverending success. Will it catch up with them enough for Norwood to win on Saturday night? Probably not. I do think though that their lack of recruiting allied with the loss of several key players, the increasing age of their playmakers and an underperforming youth set up means that they're probably closer to the pack than they've been for a while.

Go Legs.

3 qtr time at the Parade one night was when our season started in earnest...

Looking forward to this week, should be a game of 4 quarters with lots of footy. (I'm challenging big Phil with my pre-game write ups...)

Didnt see the Westies v Norwood game on the weekend but by all accounts was a pretty ordinary spectacle and the Legs should have won by more....but a wins a win and Trevor Hill would be sleeping a bit easier this week ...at least until Saturday's game against Centrals when the Legs will probably get pumped to the tune of around 15 goals plus.... Legs will lose Campbell to the Crows this week and wont see Jericho and Massie back on a regular basis again this season ......

Better to have them not at all than in and out each week. Better to have a settled side.
Once Campbell gets a proper chance he will be a regular with the Crows.....could have done with him on Sunday when it got tough. Let him stand Thomas hahaha.

Big Phil - I think you have hit the nail on the head with your opening assessment:

A 44 pt loss for Central this week will pose a serious question - how will they respond?

Given it doesn't happen too often (when was the last time?), there are two possibilities.

1. This is unfamiliar territory and there is a chance Central could be caught napping in the third round
2. They will be angry angry angry dogs and steamroll whoever they play after a loss like that.

I hope it is the first possibility..... :D
