Suggested protocol for "match threads"

Postby pipers » Sat Apr 05, 2008 9:43 pm

(no, this isn't about dress standards on match day)

I only log on a few times a week and having to sift through 6 or 7 pages of pre-game speculation and trolling to get to the match reports is tiresome.

Can I suggest we adopt a practice on this site for each game of having separate threads for pre-game posts and post-game posts?

Not a bad idea, perhaps complimented with a single thread for score updates from various games on at the same time like today.

Agreed that a "GAMEDAY" thread with all scores from all games in the one spot would be excellent.

Good idea about the threads though.

Yes, that was a great way to do the live stuff.

Maybe just close the "pre-game" threads off on a Saturday morning (or 5pm Friday for night games) and set up some new "match-day" threads ready for posting after the final siren.

On on a forum I go to for Carlton the MODS insert on the thread title the page number for say team selection details in the pre-game thread, and then the same for the final score & match report for the post-game thread. That works for me as like Fatal I only go to the forum once or twice a week, and it's easy to see where you go for the "crucial" stuff...

May 5th 2007 Topic "Suggestion For This Site" General Discussion Forum:
therisingblues wrote:Why not have a forum just for match results? The old "footysa" site had this on their main page, and it created a focal point for post match discussion. Without a specific match results forum/main page feature, the details of what happened on match day is sometimes scattered through multiple threads. So it is harder to get the results at a glance, and a quick gist of what happened under the present system.
I understand that this would create a job that needs to be done after each game, and perhaps the same person would be reluctant to fulfill this role week in week out, so it could be done on a volunteer, or nomination basis, with a different person (moderator?) posting the results after each game/round and making a quick report of what happened to start off the post match thread(s).
Just an idea anyway, and something I would like to see included in this site. What do others think?

This was my idea from almost a year ago. I suggested a seperate forum, but the goal is the same. One thread per match to get all the news from that match.
Sounds good to me Fatal!
