SANFL Coverage in the online Advertiser

This is one pathetic website.

Living interstate I used to be able search the Advertiser for all the teams and all the (few) stories that are published in the paper.

With the new design of the online advertiser there is NOWHERE where the SANFL teams are printed and the SANFL link is RARELY updated. OMG they have got newspaper articles posted from early last year. Its absolutely disgraceful.

Honestly what is the point of having a link to the SANFL when nobody bothers to update it. Either they should stop pretending to have an interest or spend a bit of time dedicated to maintaining it.

Agree 100% with your rant.

I have stopped reading their pathetic excuse for a website since it was given a make-over; they clearly have interest only in promoting the AFL.

Come here for your SANFL news. This site has all the goss weeks before the 'Tiser ever gets wise to it anyway.

Already had my spit here about this issue: http://safooty.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13156

Yet they had the Strut v Legs report up before midnight on Friday...

If you look at the front page of the footy section (AFL page) the ladder is very interesting as whoever has put it up has placed teams in % order not on points thus a team with no wins is sitting higher than 2 teams with one win.

Had to laugh

And to add insult to injury the only non AFL coverage I can see is a wrap up of the VFL !

I seem to remember a recent change of sports editor being announced. Maybe this the reason why the website coverage has diminished so badly?

Hopefully it is not the thin edge of the wedge. ( No pun intended Wedgie!)

I'm reminded of a true story I heard a couple of years back when a young lass on BBC radio in the United Kingdom had to read some tennis scores. I forget who the players were but the scores were something like 6-4, 6-5, 6-2. The poor lass read the scores out as "6 minus 4, 6 minus 5, 6 minus 2". Of course, no-one knew what the hell she was talking about.
The same sort of thing applies to the AFL ladder the CD refers to in the 'tiser, who the hell do they find to do these jobs?

Maybe outsourced to India or China?

I notice that the weekend SANFL reports have disappeared completely. The leading report on the SANFL and other news is still about Bode playing for Glenelg in the trial against Sturt.

Sheesh! How difficult is it to maintain a site?

and what about the report that Perrie won't be be playing for North Adelaide this year? I didn't know that, I was shocked when I read that the other day.
WHAT A JOKE!

I'll be stuffed, I didn't think it would ever happen, especially the SANFL page being updated.

I notice the football link on the Advertiser site is now "AFL" instead of "Football".
FFS, the renaming of the game to "AFL" has got to stop.
Sadly, it appears even current commentators and ex-players are perpetuating the trend

Agree. What a load of crap. Our so called local paper (and its average website) gives a token effort towards the SANFL and football at all other levels.

Please Note: the new footy site is across all News limited papers and they are all linked. The Advertiser has added the SANFL page as an extra to the site they dont have sole control over. The boys at the Tiser have added bits to the SANFL page and are trying to add more.

To their credit they did not take the easy way out and ignore the SANFL - they did not leave it off which they could have given it is a national based site.
