are sturt the real deal?

Postby purch » Fri Mar 28, 2008 11:17 pm

Solid effort tonight by the DBs but plenty of room for improvement. Perrie had a blinder. Didn't think it was going to be so one sided on the scoreboard before the game. The beer was cold and it didn't run out (IIRC).

Now getting to the crux of it (I thought I'd get in before SP)...in those famous words of bayman:

"well are they ??"

"And look at John Halbert"
" His whiskers have curled."

Oh my god, this could be a long year.....

Speaking of dealing and cards I know a coach of a team that folds pretty easily......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

about round 3 methinks.

who was there? still alot of skill errors I thought by both sides. That may sound tough after a 10 goal win but such errors will be crucial against the likes of North, Central and (even) Glenelg (I think).

Kurtze is coming along nicely which is important for our ruck prospects, as is Wark in defence.

I think it is way too early to be asking those kind of questions...

It is a long year ahead, more so for some teams than others, but lots of things can happen throughout the course of the year...

Things like individual player and team form, slumps, injuries, player availability etc, etc...

I think after about 6 or 7 games you get to see which of the teams look stronger than others and who are going to be the more dominant teams.

One thing's for certain though, Sturt were really impressive tonight and Norwood were poor. As per my other post on the Norwood vs Sturt thread, Norwood looked flat, lacked team cohesion and struggled to find a dominant forward line option.

I reckon if he stays injury free (and continues to work on his goal kicking), Ian Perrie could end up as recruit of the year, will dominate at CHF

Dependant on how the Doggies play against the Maggies tomorrow evening and the form they carry into next weeks round, the game at Unley will be a BLOCKBUSTER. Hopefully it will be the game of the round and be on ABC TV ?

Isn't it great that the BEST sporting competition in the world, in the SANFL, is up and running once again... BRING ON THE FOOTY !!!

Talking of going off early, how about the reference to the SANFL as "the BEST sporting comp in the WORLD".

Yeah I know G, a bit of an exaggeration there :-#

I just love my Doggies and the SA comp so much that I don't really care as much about any other sporting comps 8-[

I do love my basketball and golf as well and I suppose with competitions like the NBA and PGA Tour, my comment seems a bit unrealistic now :-
Then there is all the great soccer leagues of the world, cricket etc, etc... Each to their own I guess, hey ??? :-s

I will retratch my statement and rephrase it by saying the SANFL is the best sport comp in SOUTH AUSTRALIA !!

I know some people are of the opinion it is better from a spectator point of view, than the AFL, and in some aspects, I agree... :-k

GO U DOGGIES & THE SANFL !!!....

Spot on - though it's hard to gauge how good Sturt were, there were lots of skill errors on both sides. I was very disappointed in Norwood, granted they had a few stars out they played very unaccountable football last night. The first half especially was incredibly over-umpired but it got a bit better as it went on. Decent crowd, no probs with beer & bog lines - though where was the noise Legs fans?

You might have won the game but you are still the losers in life, like anyone else not associated with The Norwood Football Club.

Thanks mate

Sturt were awesome at times last night, however, one victory doesn't ensure Finals' participation.

More will be known after our must win matches against Central and North.

Some of Sturt's play was irresistible last night :D :D
