New Player at Sturt - Jim Plant

Postby Jimmy » Mon Mar 24, 2008 1:48 am

Anyone know where Jim Plant played last year? Has popped up in the Sturt trials as a potential league FB and over at db.org, there is some excitement about him.

Did he play ammo's last year? Is he any relation to the plants that play cricket at the bay/for SA?

Anyone got his height/weight?

I've got an idea i read somewhere that he played in the Riverland last year.

If you check out:

theres a J Plant quite prominent for Waikierie.

Maybe post something in the Riverland thread and they might be able to confirm this, and if its him they might be able to advise what type of player he is, height etc.

Can inform you that yes he is the brother of the Plant at the Redbacks, and i believe he himself played district cricket this year. Last footy season he played at Waikerie, mainly as a backman but quite frequently as a utility type player. Played a fantastic GF on arguably one of the leagues best forwards. Has plently of pace, can read the ball well, and not afraid to run off his man. Still young and obviously with a preseason at Sturt, sure to fill out. A class act.

Hopefully he'll blossom into a handy player.

Good player. Will make a mid-size defender. Quick. Loves a goal.

If its the Jim Plant that I think it is then hes the bloke who plays for the Bays. Keeper batsmen and brother of Tom Plant. Also brother of the other Rob Plant who is currently playing for the bays. As for height wise well hes about tad over six foot. Not huge by any means. He was playing for Wakerie last year. I thought he was playing for them again. But then again it could be a different plant. I'll have to find out.

Stan it is the same Plant who played for Waikerie.
He is the brother of Tom, who was rumoured to be playing for waikerie last season too. Apparently didn't in the end due to his cricket situation.

Stan, yes it is the same Jim Plant. He playes cricket for glenelg, is the wicketkeeper/batsman and is the captain of the club. Played in a premiership fo Waikerie last year, he was recommended to come to sturt from Josh Keller who use to play at sturt.

When I left SA we could have had ten Plants. Shame the goal posts have moved.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
