Joe Pedler, the much-loved Eagles fullback, has officially retired from football. The announcement was made this morning to staff. Well done, Joe, on a great career of over 100 league games and about 90 reserve games. It won't be the same playing the Eagles without you. I am just glad I was there to witness your first goal in league football in 2006.

Cheers

Was captain for Ports under 19s as well before he crossed over.

Always liked him as a player. Tried hard, great defender, consistent performer.

Lots of talk about a flashy defender obssessed by kicking goals and being a mug lair though.

Will be definately missed. Added tons of experience to our backlines. Sorry to hear about this but not surprised. Let's face it he's not getting any younger. Was a great player for the club, much admired by all players, officials, fans etc. We love you Peds - All the best whatever the future may bring.

PS: his goal against Norwood at Coopers down the parade end was a classic. Never seen anyone happier kicking a goal.

Agree totally re that goal, eagle. I was fortunate enough to be there doing the stats. Not only was he ecstatic about it, but it seemed the whole team was too. A great 'little' moment in sport. He kicked his only other goal in what will now have been his very last game.
Cheers

I remeber it well - I had not long made my way to the parade end of the ground. Must have been there all of 5 mins or so and then peds slotted it home. The celebration was enormous. His team mates did enjoy it as well. The crowd behind the parade end goal went bezerk too. :D :D :D :D :D

Two elderly Eagles supporters muttering a bit louder to each other?

Beserk indeed.

Well lets just say I was at the end that Peddler kicked his goal and I dont think i am that old .
Finishing third was a waste of a year yes but finishing higher up than your team is always a pleasure pay back for years of losing to your team..

This thread was to say goodbye to a champion Eagles player .
