Footy back at Adelaide Oval for this season

Postby smac » Tue Mar 18, 2008 3:20 pm

Apologies if this is old news, but I hadn't heard it confirmed before now.

http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/stor ... 28,00.html

It appears there will be approximately 12 SANFL games at AO this season, which is great news. Being selfish, I hope the ANZAC game remains at Elizabeth - the club has invested a lot of money and time in preparing for that game, they couldn't possibly make as much out of an AO game now.

12 games?

5 of them finals, wheres the other 7 coming from?

Looks like ANZAC day at Elizabeth will be lost.

I reckon the SANFL should stick it to the SACA and play NO games this year at AO as originally planned.
Higher ranked team hosts all finals bar GF which will be at AAMI.

The SANFL shouldnt have to be bent over just because the SACA cant properly plan a grandstand upgrade.

Surely ANZAC Day game has to be moved back to the Adelaide Oval now.

IMO the magic of teh day is lost when it is not there, ANZAC Day march, then off to teh footy at AO, magic day out.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Stop your guts-aching. I'll give you a lift to and from the game if it's that much of a bother...

I wouldn't be happy about the move personally, but understand the reasons most will come up with for shifting it back.

SACA/SANFL would have to cough up some fairly serious cash at this point though, dogs seem fairly committed to the home game at this point.

Stuff the SACA and their crap oval.
Show some backbone SANFL and leave the program as is.
If one North game is moved there I will send them a barrage of abuse.
Anzac Day game is a definate must stay at Elizabet as Id imagine planning would have already gone into it.
Was looking forward to finals at other grounds.
A pain but I did call it a couple of months ago.
Also no excuse for the SACA having to move out the bowling club thats been there for over 100 yrs. Id rather see the SACA move out.

No bother at all as I, like about 75 others are rostered to work there that night, if it gets moved I dont have to work and can go and enjoy the atmosphere

That's better, nothing makes more sense, than North Adelaide playing in North Adelaide.
Its just a pity there's not a decent ground there, time to build one. :D

The Interstate League clash will no doubt be moved from Norwood as well.

Not that I'm complaining, either ground would be cool to me.

That's another shame to come out of the SACA's shambles, a state game at Norwood would have been fantastic.

because sturt haven't won at the adelaide oval since they re-did the playing surface with the 'ground overhaul', they even threw away a 50 point lead there as well in one of the games they lost (v north) & they imho have no confidence in playing at the famous ground atm
