Trial Game 1 Flag favs vs the Eagles

Thought I'd get in quickly before bayman and start up a trial game thread. Sturt play the Eagles at Thebby Oval this Saturday at 2pm. Reserves from 11.15.

Always interesting to see how the new players go and what ideas the coach has re position of players etc. Look forward to hearing from those who can make it.

Should the Eagles win it will be a continuation of the dominance they've had over Sturt. Should Sturt win it is a trial game and doesn't matter anyway.

I'll be there. The only games that matter are the ones that are for points, the finals and the state game.

Although my side isn't playing i'll take particular interest in this game, if for no other reason than its the 1st type of game (albeit not for points) for the year. Hopefully squads for both clubs will be listed in the Tiser tomorrow.

edit: if the North game starts before this one, i guess this Sturt/WWT isn't the first one for the year.

Correct Aerie. Either way it's hard for us to scratch a nice philosophical deduction from this one.
Last year we beat the Eagles in a trial, yet that was the only win we had over the Eags' for the year.
Mind you, last year was completely different to this year. Last year we had just come off our worst form ever (end of 1996 was a shocker) and a winning feeling was pretty important to establish from the very beginning. We really had so much more to play for then than we do this time around.
Perhaps we'll be keeping a few cards up the sleeve this time. Perhaps they won't be so concerned to allow the Eagles to continue their dominance for one more match, which happens to be just a trial game after all.
Squads to be announced on Friday I guess? It will be interesting to see how they line up.

Team lists aren't in today's paper. In the past the Advertiser has printed out trial game squads in the Saturday edition so maybe tomorrow.

Should be an intriguing battle this one. I for one am looking forward to it. Will be interesting to see how strong the 2 sides that take the field will be. Looking forward to seeing the new recruits in their first true hit out for the club.

C'MON EAGLES !!!

You are very correct and from what I read into your thread a tad nervous about the outcome of a trial game that doesn't matter anyway!
T'is a new season, I'm sure you'll treat us with more respect than the same time last year when we belted you hung over looking birds.

Your right Rucciangelo
But by the end of last year you guys looked tired kicking for goals ie Feast .
I am very interested to see if Macgowans game plan has changed or stayed the same.
Also interested to see the new recruits for the eagles and the ruck set up.
But its just a trial game at the end of the day it doesnt matter who wins .

Does anyone know if addmission to the trial games has a cost involved. Wouldn't mind having a look but the budget's a bit tight after the Clipsal last week

From what I remember last year the admission was a Snag with Onion and Sauce with Sliced White Bread!
