has had his coaching contract extended by another year to end in 2009 & i dare say it could go beyond that as the stability of the club is now back where it hasn't been since 1992

Pfft, club should have shown the forsight to sign him to a four year contract in 2005

Hmm someone on DB.org might need to change his signature......

Sad reality is that if he does last the four years he will be only the fourth person since WW2 (Kerley, Cornes & Halbert) to coach four years at the club, pretty poor really.....

Simplistic, being around the club at the time GS Cornes wasn't the main mover and shaker....he may have been sounded out, I'll grant you that, but it wasn't him doing the hiring and firing....

I wont debate you because you know a lot more about it than me, but i heard he was very vocal in the whole matter.

The news of Mark resigning is hot from the AGM, however that pales into insignificance behind the major announcement of the night, the council have pproved the erection* of a Southern toilet block which should be in place by rd 4......

(Okay who wants to hold thier breath.......)

I too liked Williams as a coach for Glenelg just that many fickle supporters at time didn't want a Port Maggie person tied up with Glenelg and really vendetta'd against him.(Brendan Honor anyone for worst coach).
IMO we should have kept Kym Hodgeman as coach for longer to give him a chance.
Congrates to Mickan on another year, hopefully a good one!!!

Hodgey walked Troy...now whether it was becasue he wanted a certain coaching/selection panel put in place and those in charge didn't agree to it....well I wasn't as close to the league squad then as I was two years later.....

To quote you Tas from Rick's resigning-
"Pfft, If you had shown the same forsight as the Glenelg administration (when we signed Mickan) you'd have signed him to a three year contract in the first place..."

So where's the forsight of the Glenelg admin now, why only one year? He's already had a crack in the AFL so that can't be it. :D

Congratulations to Mark, he's good for the SANFL, a good coach and handles himself well in the media, there's no froth and bubbles coming from his mouth unlike other coaches down at the Bay.
