Sillier season

Now that new years etc is over with some clubs appear to be partaking in some odd/interesting recruiting. Maybe the interstate recruits are all unavailable now, but two clubs in particular are gunning for several fringe/reserves players, most under the promise of regular league games. Is this unusual for mid January?

Yes, they seem to have $$$$$$$ to spend for the first time in years.

I wouldn't think so with most of the interstate recruiting over now a fair few fringe players probably realise there further away from league football than last year and find it easier to move to a club where they have a better chance.
Before Christmas and before recruits start training i would think these fringe players are hoping like hell that there club doesn't recruit much at all.

I'm making my judgement from a quick browse around all of the club forums eg. 1 club said they didnt have enough $$$ for a fringe player's transfer and then proceeded to recruit 3 more reserves youngsters from elsewhere

At a guess it's Paley, there's word on DB.org that he's looking for a change and a regular spot in the seniors, which may be hard at Sturt, he's a good player but not had much of a chance so good luck to him.
It's a bit of a stretch to label Norwood as a 'latte set' considering what's happening down the Bay, what do you call that? The 'oyster fringe'?

Paley is 1 of the players. You are talking about the wrong part of the bay...look past holdfast shores and a little more to the south.

apparantly we offered paley to the legs but what they offered us in return was not good enough.

Wil Paley is well like by the boys at the Double Blues. I was at a function where Paley spoke about the transition from NT Footy to SANFL. He mentioned that when he arrived he thought he would be good enough to play league week in week out...then he found out how good this competition is. A bit tough to fit into our "Ones" when we have some pretty talented blokes around who are similar in size but with greater ability. I feel for him if he is being offered. He was sporting a fairly impressive "Mo" towards the end of last year...good luck son! Would be good to keep you.
